Week 354 Update

It was 7:41 AM when I stepped up on Mr. Scale and he said, "200.0 pounds!" Well, at least I am back in my target range.

I spent this week recovering from my tough day in the dentist's chair last Thursday. The penicillin made me light-headed all week long, and it really upset my stomach if I didn't eat something with the pills. I had to space them out through the day and so I took one before bedtime, and that meant I had to eat something light before retiring for the night. I finally ran out of the pills on Thursday this week and that made me very glad.

I wasn't in terrible pain during the week, but I was proactive treating it, staying ahead of the pain curve as much as possible. I woke up a couple of days with all the implants aching, but the discomfort wasn't too bad and soon removed entirely with some ibuprofen and/or my prescription pain meds.

Discomfort is way day now. Now the penicillin is done the lightheadedness and upset stomach are gone.

I had a follow up visit with my dentist on Thursday, one week after the procedure. Everything is going as well as could be expected and he sounded very up about how the x-rays looked. (For more details visit: Mastication Miracle—Or How Al Got His Teeth Back

I continued to get acclimated to my iMac and still feel like it was a very good choice jumping over to it. My Vista nightmare is receding into the past and with a little bit of luck, that will continue. Things are settling in more and more each day.

On the eating front, as you can tell from the table above, aside from two high days, my eating was low all week long. I ended averaging only 37.79 points per day. My average weight was still high at 202.79 but with all the ibuprofen I went through this week, that is not surprising at all. Wednesday I even felt up to a walk to the gym! I didn't do much once I got there. I did a couple of weight exercises that help my back, and not much else. Dotti finished up her physical therapy early and we walked home.

The Weight Commander graph for today looks like twin peaks rising from a valley floor. The water gains from the Ibuprofen sent me way up for 4 days but then the scale came back down to a more reasonable spot. I am still hanging right around 200 pounds.

I have to admit that this is still confusing to me. They say that you should have a BMI less than or equal to 25 (which is at 200 pounds for me). The optimum BMI is 22 or so, according to some experts. Well, if I exercised a lot more that might work out well for me, I don't know, but right now, when I get down to 185, which is only a BMI of 23.1, I feel too thin. Dotti starts getting upset with me if I get any lower than that, and she likes me where I am much better than 185. A BMI of 22 would require that I get down to 176, and that would really be thin. So, for now, I will just try to maintain around 200.

Once again the future graph is preaching doom and gloom as I appear to be destined for "big things." But that is based upon the artificially high numbers that the meds created for me. I hope to see a better future graph next week.

Things are not boring these days, and that seems to be the way with life on planet earth. It is one thing after another. Peace and quiet is always found only in nostalgic memory or wished for futures, never in the here and now.

6 years, 288 days on my journey; a lifetime to follow.
