Welcome

Well it's time for another visit and to check in with all of you. Hope everyone had a fantastic Thanksgiving. Al and I had an awesome time in Spokane with our son, LeRoy, bestest friends - Jim & Tammy, our grandson, Hunter James and the rest of their family. What a great time we had with Hunter who just celebrated his second birthday on Nov 21st. Great memories.

Let's pull up that comfy chair with your tall glass of refreshing water, and get started with our visit. Don't forget your beautiful SMILE.

A Present to Yourself
    By Dotti

As we enter the Christmas season with all the lights, decorations and celebrations, how many of you know that during this season you'll get tired, hungry, and stressed? How many of you are aware that you can eliminate the "tired, hungry and stressed" from your holiday season very easily? Today we are going to talk a little about how we can take care of ourselves so that we don't get too hungry and overeat; so that we don't get too tired and overeat; and so that we don't get too stressed and overeat.

Let's first talk about how we take care of everyone on our Christmas list, making sure they get just the right gift. Isn't it fun taking the time and care to find the perfect gift that you know they will love? For me, the enjoyment comes from watching my loved one open their special gift from me. I love shopping for other people.

How many of us put ourselves last on the Christmas list? How many of us don't even include ourselves on that Christmas list? I know I usually don't. I'll bet most of you don't. Why would we? Isn't it all about our loved ones? Well, of course it is BUT it's also about YOU.

What would be a great present to give ourselves during this holiday season? How about the gift of taking care of ourselves? By taking care of ourselves we are:
  • More able to stay On Program.
  • Less stressed.
  • Less hungry all the time.
  • Less tired throughout the day.
  • Prepared for any obstacle put in our path.
  • Relaxed.
  • Taking care of all our loved ones.
Can any of you think of a few things we could do that would help reduce our stress during the holiday season? How about a few things that would help us to stay On Program during the holiday season? Let's see what we can come up with…

Get 6-8 hours of sleep every night. Sleep helps you lose weight and keeps you from being tired during the day.
Take 15 minutes out of your day to relax with a tall glass of sparkling water. Water helps fill you up and relaxing helps with your stress level.
Plan your meals. Planning your meals helps you stay in control of your eating.
Take a packed cooler bag with On Program food with you for the day. You will always have OP food within your reach, helping you stay On Program.
Keep a filled water bottle with you at all times. Water is great for you and keeps you with a full feeling. Try to drink 8-10 glasses a day.
Wear snug-fitting clothes. They will continually remind you not to overeat. Really, it works!
Keep veggies cut up in the fridge. Easy to grab OP food that is good for you!
Pamper yourself with a bubble bath and a good book. A nice relaxing bath will help reduce your stress level.
Plan some "me time" each day. This will help your stress level and validate that YOU are important.
Take a nice walk. Walking is relaxing and helps reduce stress. It also burns calories.
Do not skip meals. This will make you too hungry and will cause you to overeat. You want to keep your stomach in the "satisfied" state.
Eat breakfast every day. Starting your day with a good hearty breakfast means you are off to a great start for a great OP day!
Learn to say NO. Don't be afraid to say NO when offered food that you don't wish to eat. If they are offended it is their 'issue', not yours.
Use the 3-bite rule. When many delicious food choices are tempting you, try the 3-bite rule, which means ONLY 3 bites of your favorite foods. After all, the first 3 bites are when the food tastes the best!
No beating yourself up over a slip-up; one day at a time, no guilt and move on. Remember, this is a Lifetime Journey and none of us is perfect.
Have fun! Fun times reduce stress and bring lots of smiles which in turn makes you feel good. How much better can it get?

These are just a few ideas. Each of us has our own way of relaxing and reducing stress. What would help reduce stress and keep you at your best during the holidays?

I guarantee that if you get enough sleep, drink your water, get in some exercise/activity, take at least 15 minutes to relax, eat your breakfast and do not skip meals EVERY DAY you will be much happier, relaxed, and in-control of all aspects of your life—including your Journey. Your stress level will be reduced. You will smile more. You will make wise food choices. Doesn't that sound wonderful? It sure does to me!

Let's all make a list of what we are going to do to ensure continued success on our Journey during the holidays. This year we are going to be on that Christmas list - right at the top - 1st one. Remember, by taking care of ourselves we are taking care of our loved ones. It really is the best present to give them, along with yourself.

Have an awesome couple of weeks everyone, and remember to SMILE ? that beautiful smile of yours all the time. You will cheer up all those you come in contact with, leaving you with a good feeling. It doesn't get any better than that.

Hugs! Dotti

An Update on my Journey

Al and I have been in Spokane having a wonderful Thanksgiving with our son, LeRoy and our bestest friends, Jim & Tammy and their family and of course, our grandbaby, Hunter James. We celebrated Hunter's 2nd birthday Birthday Cake! on Nov 21st. What a great time we had with Hunter and many new memories were made to hold us over until we visit again.

I lostGood Scale! 2.8 lbs at my 11/14 weigh-in and another 1.4 lbs on my last weigh-in in Spokane on 11/21. I made sure I made it to a gym several times during my visit in Spokane because I knew that was going to be the key to my continued success while enjoying the holidays.Walking!I was able to do my Elliptical and circuit weights. I attended my weekly meeting in Spokane and the leader was wonderful.

I've been feeling wonderful about Program, working out and just living the lifestyle. There were some food challenges during Thanksgiving but I had made up my mind to enjoy Hunter and the family instead of focusing on the delicious food. I had my plate of dinner which included a little of everything I wanted, including some pumpkin cheesecake.

While in Spokane, Tammy & I met Eileen (Ret WW Ldr) at Starbucks for a nice visit. It was great catching up with Eileen! I could not believe that we all wore red! No, we did not send out a memo either.

Click Here to see some photos of our time in Spokane.

I'd like to leave you with one of my favorite sayings, I cannot relive yesterday and tomorrow isn't here yet, so I will just deal with today.

Until next time, take care and remember to SMILE

Hugs!   Dotti

Think Positive

Beginning Today...

Today
look in a mirror
and notice
that the person
who greets you
is beautiful,
inside and out.
Today
say to yourself that
you know nothing is
impossible.
Remind yourself that
every one of your dreams
is within reach.
Today
think about all of
the people who love you,
who see the beauty in you,
and begin to look at yourself
in the same way.

"Enjoying Weight Loss"

As many of you know, I use Dr. Roberta’s Enjoying Weight Loss Hypnosis CDs as one of my "tools" on my lifelong Journey to a healthier me. They continue to be an irreplaceable part of my Journey back to goal.

I am happy to see that the Hypnosis Network is continuing to offer Dr. Roberta’s Enjoying Weight Loss Hypnosis CDs for $97. For anyone who is "hypnosis-friendly" (about 90% of the human population can derive some benefit from hypnosis) the money could not be better spent. If you are interested in learning more about Dr. Roberta’s Enjoying Weight Loss Hypnosis CDs you can read our review at http://www.dwlz.com/hypnosisreview.html. I would not recommend them if they hadn't of worked for me.

Here is what the Hypnosis Network says:

Dr. Roberta’s Enjoying Weight Loss was tested and recommended by the National Health & Wellness Club.

In the National Health & Wellness Club's Product Test Program, club members conduct their own independent tests of health and wellness products. The fifty independent testers who tried Enjoying Weight Loss gave the program a 92% approval rating.

The Hypnosis Network is still offering a special on the Enjoying Weight Loss CDs—they are only $97, and you can now cover that with—3 easy payments—if you prefer.

Click Here to go directly to their site and find out more about the Hypnosis Network, and how you can order your CDs.
  • You'll also find a free E-Book there that includes 20 weight loss tips from Dr. Temes!

Thank you to all of you who continue to be there for me and support me in my Journey to becoming a healthier me. Thank you for caring!

And remember, "If you always do what you always did, you'll always get what you always got."

Hugs! Dotti

Stress Busters

During the holidays our stress levels tend to spike upwards. We are running around trying to get everything done with no regard to ourselves. Here are a few ways to reduce your stress.

Get away to a quiet place ~ Find a nice quiet place where you can just relax and not do anything.

Positive self-talk ~ In difficult situations use positive self-talk to help keep your stress level down. Try, "I'm not going to spend $100 worth of energy on a $2 problem." Or "I will not let this situation get me down. I will rise above it."

Live in the present ~ Holding grudges increases stress. Why not let them go. You will see your stress level go way down. Remember - holding grudges harms you the most.

Write it down ~ Don't trust your memory; write down whatever you need to remember.

Keep things in perspective ~ Keep your stress level down by changing what you can and learning to accept and adjust to what you can't change.

Always listen to your body ~ When you get tired, rest. You will find that when you are not in a tired state, you are not in a stressed state.

Get some regular exercise ~ Exercise is a great physical outlet for your body's stress hormones. A great benefit from exercising is increased energy, toned muscles, improved cardiovascular system and relaxed nerves.

Hang out with positive friends ~ Help your attitude by being with others who will support your good choices.

Software You Can Use!

A NoteWeight Commander

The Weight Commander is an awesome program for your Journey. I highly recommend it to all those who are on a Journey of their own. It is a wonderful program to track your progress on any weight loss program you are using. You can read My Review of the Weight Commander or go straight to the source and check out this great software by following this link to Weight Commander. He has many tips and ideas throughout his program which will help you to be successful on your Journey.

Note from Al: I have continued to maintain in my target range and once again the credit for that goes in part to the Weight Commander program. It has motivated me to get my graph moving in the right direction for several weeks now, and that motivation moved me down below 200 pounds, which is the top of my Normal range (BMI 25). It really helped to get me back on track!

You can see for yourself what The Weight Commander can do with a free test drive, and you don't have to give a credit card just to check it out either. But you will see with a price of under $10, it is very under priced, and if you let it, it will help you a lot from day to day.

The Weight Commander has already made a significant and positive impact on my journey, and if you use it daily, it can do the same for you!

Comic Relief

Ain't it the Truth!!!

A woman goes to the doctor for her yearly physical.
The nurse starts with certain basic items.
"How much do you weigh?" she asks.
"115," she says.
The nurse puts her on the scale.
It turns out her weight is 140.

The nurse asks, "Your height?"
"5 foot 8," she says.
The nurse checks and sees that she only measures 5' 5".

She then takes her blood pressure
And tells the woman it is very high.
"Of course it's high!" she screams,
"When I came in here I was tall and slender!
Now I'm short and fat!"
