Week 109 Update

I woke up early this morning and stepped up on Mr. Scale at 04:45. He said, "181.5 pounds, again!" That makes my goal of moving back up to 185.0 no closer to being accomplished than it was last week at this time; even though at that time I had not set that goal for myself.

I am tired of dealing with the medications for my back ailments, because they throw my system into partial chaos. Early this week I had to move a couple more large monitors and it caused my back pain to flare up again. I started taking some of my medications again and through the scale into confusion once more. The last couple of days I didn't take any medications, and relied on my heating pad and pillows to deal with the pain. So, the scale dropped back down rather than moving up.

For eating this week, I started off on Saturday (after my Friday weekly weigh-in and large Friday night dinner) weigh-in 183.0 pounds. However, since I had eaten late on Friday, I knew that weight was artificially high. So, I ate 44.0 points, and on Sunday my weight came back down to 182.0. I ate 37.5 points on Sunday, including the snacking in the car on the trip home from Mom's place, and Monday morning the scale said 177.5. I increased my points two ways on Monday as a result. I went out at lunch and got a large Butterfinger McFlurry, which I count as 17.5 points, and then I grabbed some extra snacks in the evening. This put my points up to 68.5 for the day. On Tuesday I was back to 180.5. (I also was taking medications on Tuesday and Wednesday.) I ate 46.0 points on Tuesday, and Wednesday morning I was up to 181.5. I also made the decision to increase my target weight to my old 185.0 again that day. Unfortunately, with my back pain, I was not all that inclined to eat that much. I ate 42.5 points. On Thursday the scale jumped up to 183.5, but it was artificial. I only ate 36.0 points that day, because my appetite was not very good. I did not take any medications on Thursday. On Friday I made an attempt to move the scale upwards by eating 60.0 points, but it was too little, too late. The scale held steady at 181.5 this morning. Not to worry. Having difficulty moving the scale up will not be a long-term problem I am certain. The back situation, on the other hand, I am not so sure about.

My average points-per-day this week dropped from 53.50 to 47.79 and my average weight, medications and all, dropped from 181.21 to 181.14.

For exercise this week, I did not feel up to doing a lot of walking at work because of my back. I am hopeful that this will not be a long term issue. On Saturday, Dotti and I did our 4-mile CFHC hike #5 in the Umpqua National Forest. That added up to 13.95 aerobic points, because it took 1 hour and 33 minutes to complete the hike. On Wednesday I tried doing a walk in the morning, and did go 2 miles in 25 minutes and 46 seconds (12:53/mile or 4.66 mph) for 6.31 aerobic points, but I didn't feel too well later in the day. Whether the back was going to be hurting anyway, or if it was hurting because of the walk I could not say for sure. So, I didn't do any more walking after that for the week. It is too bad too because we have had rain only one day of the week this week, and the temperature has been cool most of the week. It would have been great walking weather.

For water this week, I drank at least 6 cups each day, and I averaged 74.29 ounces (9.3 cups) per day. That is plenty of water!

This week I hope to do better on my exercise, and get back into the 30+ aerobic point area with my walking. I also hope to move my weight back up closer to 185.

2 years, 33 days OP; a lifetime to follow.
