Week 110 Update

It was 54°, 05:00, and the sky was just starting to lighten when I stepped up on Mr. Scale. He said, "182.5 pounds!" That is exactly halfway between my temporary lower target weight of 180.0, and the target weight of 185.0 that I am attempting to return to. It is also one pound up from last week.

It was an interesting week for me. At work it was the busiest week that I have had in some time. I started the week with my back giving me quite a bit of grief, and ended with it feeling quite a bit better. I ate more, but only moved the scale a pound. I didn't get any non-work related exercise, thanks to my back for the most part.

For my eating this week, since I was attempting to raise my weight, I moved my points up. On Saturday I weighed 181.5 pounds. I ate 63.0 points, including a very good roast beef dinner at a local diner we go to fairly often. I even had a banana split for some extra points. Sunday I woke up weighing 183.5. I thought, "This going to be easy. I will be at my new target soon and can get back to normal maintenance." Ha! I ate a normal 45.5 points on Sunday and the scale dropped two pounds on Monday to 181.5. Not deterred, I ate 56.0 points on Monday, including another restaurant meal, accompanied by a milk shake. Tuesday my weight was up one-half pound. Okay, I hit it with 63.0 points, getting a boost from Dairy Queen with a banana split. (Yes, I do like banana splits.) The scale remained steady on Wednesday at 182.0. I sunk into complete debauchery at dinner with a cheeseburger, and a peanut butter and chocolate milkshake, accompanied by a French cappuccino. I ended the day after 73.0 points. Things were looking up (a pound) on Thursday at 183.0. Okay, finally I was making progress. I decided to table my excursions into the "Forbidden Zone" and ate 43.5 points, just to consolidate my position and take stock of where I was. Friday morning I weighed 182.0! Arg! Back into the harness, I grabbed a large butterfinger McFlurry at lunch and ended the day with 70.0 points. "That should do the trick," I thought. Well, almost. I moved up a half-pound this morning to 182.5. Obviously, this saga will continue next week.

My exercise was abysmal this week. I didn't go to the gym at all. I didn't do any walks or hikes at all this week. I only did a very limited dumbbell session once, while being careful not to upset my back. No (aerobic) runs. No (aerobic) points. One (aerobic point) error: I didn't earn any. I hope to do much better this week.

Even my water was sub par; mostly because I didn't have time to drink any at work on most days and then didn’t drink as much as I should have once I got home. Still, I squeeked by with 6 cup on 5 of the 7 days, which isn't too bad. I will see if I can do better this week.

I have complete 110 weeks of my journey now. All and all, I am happy with the results. One of the happiest things about my journey is that I am still doing the same things I did to lose, even though I have been in maintenance since Christmas 2001. I did not change my basic journey just because I hit goal, and any success that I have had at maintenance I attribute to that fact alone.

2 years, 40 days OP; a lifetime to follow.
