Welcome
A huge welcome to all my friends at DWLZ. If you are receiving
this newsletter than you have subscribed to it through my webpage
at www.dwlz.com. Thanks for joining me on what I hope will be a
great new adventure on DWLZ. I'm excited about having this more
personal way of talking to all of you.
Summer is before us and the warmer weather means more barbecues,
picnics, family reunions and outdoor activities. As you can see I
slipped in activities in the same sentence as the food fests
because we all know being active is an important part of this
Journey. You really can enjoy the great food and at the same time
have fun working some of it off. I know at my family picnics in
the past we have played kickball. What a fun way to get in my
activity to help burn off some of that delicious food. On top of
that there were lots of laughs and great "Kodak" moments to
remember.
June is a busy month for me. We have tons of birthdays and
anniversaries along with a graduation thrown in this year, which
we will be attending in Spokane. There will be food challenges
but knowing how to handle them gives me peace of mind that I will
make wise food choices. What are some of the things we can do to
help us enjoy ourselves and still stay on Program? Here are a few
of my ideas:
- Make sure you have your bottle of water at all times; fill
when empty immediately. Water is great on warm days and fills you
up so you won't want to eat as much when the food comes rolling
around.
- Take something that you know you can partake of with no
limitations - a safe food. I like the veggies and dip
combination. They give me something to munch on and I don't ever
feel deprived.
- Do the 3 bite rule - Take 3 bites of everything you are
interested in eating. Did you know that all your flavor enjoyment
in food is in the first 3 bites? True. After that you are really
just shoveling it in, so to speak.
- Make sure you take the time to have a short visit with most of
the people there. When you are visiting and talking you eat less.
I can testify to that for sure!
- Share a dessert with someone.
- Take your camera. If you are busy taking pictures you will not
have time to focus on the food. You will be busy getting great
photos!
Yes, we can enjoy our summer and outdoor festivities without
giving up anything. We can truly have it all. It does take some
planning on your part but that is what puts you in control of
your day. Being in control over food is one of the best "highs".
After that the rest of the day is nothing short of wonderful! Is
your next barbecue or picnic going to be fun, easy-going and
enjoyable with no worries in the food department? It's all up to
YOU! I also know YOU will do awesome. I'm always in the
background cheering you on - remember that!

"Enjoying Weight Loss"
The weight loss battle is over 90% mental. If your attitude is right, and you are completely on board in your mind with your weight loss program, you will succeed. We often find that it is our own inner self that is at work trying to trip us up. This is why hypnosis can be a tremendous help. It has helped me, both to quit smoking, and to start back on my way to goal with a strong will to succeed.
I use Dr. Roberta’s Enjoying Weight Loss Hypnosis CDs as one of my "tools" on my lifelong Journey to a healthier me. They continue to be an irreplaceable part of my Journey back to goal.
The Hypnosis Network is a reliable organization with nothing but top line hypnotists working in the program. Each of them has years of training and experience, and is an expert in his particular area. I can recommend them to you with no reservations, because you will be getting top of the line service when you work with The Hypnosis Network. Their guarantee is rock solid, and you will be free from worry about the product. Either it works, or you get your money back. They are honorable, and trustworthy, professional in every way. I absolutely would not recommend them if they hadn't of worked for me.
Click Here to go directly to their site and find out more about the Hypnosis Network, and how you can order your CDs.
I have found that when I use the CDs regularly, I always do well. It is only when I don't listen to them for too long that I find myself slipping into old patterns. For me, if I use them, I succeed, every time.

My Journey Update
A little about my Journey back to Goal. (Please feel free to
visit http://www.dwlz.com/dotcomeback/dotti2goal.html where I am documenting my journey.)
I'm pleased to say I'm holding my own and doing well. I've
finally gotten to the point where I am OKAY with the fact that
this Journey is not going to be the same one as my first Journey
to Goal,
http://www.dwlz.com/mystory.html .
I have to say, I was angry for a long time that I had to even do
this part of my Journey again. At the same time I was extremely
happy that I was now a healthy non-smoker. Once I got past the
anger and accepted the fact that indeed I had to revisit this
part of my Journey I was on my way to preparing for my Journey
back to Goal.
My plan for the future is to just take this Journey one day at a
time. I am not focusing on the scale this time, except for my
weekly weigh-ins. I am instead focusing on making the best
choices I can, day by day, hour by hour, minute by minute, in
living my healthy lifestyle. In turn, the scale will tell me what
I want to hear. (Of course, I do KNOW that the scale will do it in
it's own good time!) I am also doing something different this
time around on my Journey back to Goal. I am listening to my
"Enjoying Weight Loss" hypnosis CD's by Dr. Roberta Temes. They
gave me back my FOCUS that I lost when I quit smoking. She is
so positive and after listening to a session I am calm, focused
and relaxed on Program. I have listened to these sessions as
needed since I started my Journey back to Goal in September. They
are one of my greatest Tools for Success. If you are interested
in learning more you can read our review at: http://www.dwlz.com/hypnosisreview.html.
For all of you who have written me emails of support THANK YOU
from the bottom of my heart. They mean the world to me and help
motivate me to keep on keeping on.

The Light Side of Weight Loss
Laughter is a very important part of this Journey. I'm a firm
believer in a sense of humor. It eases us through some very rough
roads of Life! Here is one of my favorite "funnies" that I'd like
to share with you.
Heaven
This 85 year old couple, having been married almost 60 years, had
died in a car crash. They had been in good health the last ten
years mainly due to the wife's interest in health food and
exercise.
When they reached the pearly gates, St. Peter took them
to their mansion which was decked out with a beautiful kitchen
and master bath suite and Jacuzzi. As they "oohed and ahhed", the
old man asked Peter how much all this was going to cost.
"It's free", Peter replied, "This is Heaven".
Next they went out back
to survey the championship golf course that the home backed up
to. They would have golfing privileges every day; and each week
the course changed to a new one representing the great golf
courses on earth.
The old man asked, "What are the green fees?"
Peter's reply, "This is Heaven, you play for free."
Next they
went to the clubhouse and saw the lavish buffet lunch with the
cuisines of the world laid out. "How much to eat?" asked the old
man.
"Don't you understand yet? This is heaven, it's free!" Peter
replied with some exasperation.
"Well, where are the low fat and
low cholesterol tables?" the old man asked timidly.
Peter
explained, "That's the best part - you can eat as much as you
like of whatever you like and you never get fat and you never get
sick. This is Heaven!"
With that the old man went into a fit of
anger, throwing down his hat and stomping on it, and shrieking
wildly.
Peter and his wife both tried to calm him down, asking
him what was wrong.
The old man looked at his wife and said,
"This is all your fault! If it weren't for your blasted bran
muffins, I could have been here ten years ago!"
DWLZ Cookbooks One and Two
Have you ordered your
DWLZ Cookbooks yet? These cookbooks are filled with recipes that are Zonies' favorites, dishes that are delicious but on program, with nutritional information listed. This is two books in one package: DWLZ Cookbooks Volumes One and Two. The recipes are easy to make and don't use hard-to-find items. They are together in one PDF file, viewable in your free Acrobat Reader (Version 5 and higher). These make wonderful gifts.
Food Finds
Now that summer is once again upon us it's time to fill our
freezers with some great point/calorie friendly frozen treats and
desserts. I don't know about you but I refuse to go without my
treats and desserts. Guess what? You don't have to!
One of my favorite Ice Cream novelties is the Philly Swirls,
selection of great tasting ice cream. (http://www.phillyswirl.com/)
They have a delicious Sugar-Free, Fat-Free Swirl Stix with
very tasty flavors that I love
[10 calories/0 grams fat/1 gram fiber/4 grams carbs]
Now that's a great "freebie" treat! Can you say YUM! Their new
Fudge Swirl Stix are to die for and very point/calorie friendly
[57 calories/0 grams fat/0 grams fiber/12 grams carbs].
For a great dessert that is already prepared and delicious why
not try Weight Watchers (http://www.weightwatchers.com/) Smart Ones Double Fudge Cake
[150 calories/4.5 grams fat/2 grams fiber/20 grams carbs].
It is so decadent and the chocolate just melts in your mouth. I
love it warmed a bit in the microwave. You can even take it out
and put it on a real pretty dish to serve to your guests; they
get a great dessert and you get to stay on Program!
One of my best food finds this past month has been the Genisoy
products at Costco. This time around I tried the All Natural
Potato Soy Crisps, Parmesan & Roasted Garlic (serving size is 1
oz/17 crisps)
[110 calories/3 grams fat/2 grams fiber/16 grams carbs].
They are a great snack to take to your picnics or family
gatherings or to just use as a side to your sandwiches.
Software You Can Use!
Weight Commander
The Weight Commander is an awesome program for your Journey. I highly recommend it to all those who are on a Journey of their own. It is a wonderful program to track your progress on any weight loss program you are using. You can read My Review of the Weight Commander or go straight to the source and check out this great software by following this link to Weight Commander. He has many tips and ideas throughout his program which will help you to be successful on your Journey.
Motivation
Motivation is another big part of our Journey. One of my best
friends that I met through DWLZ sent me this awesome paper chain
of posts from a thread that was started on DWLZ asking, What does
DWLZ mean to them? I had that paper chain hung up around my
kitchen doorway for a very long time until I decided to take it
apart. I carefully undid each chain and folded the papers. I
place them in a real pretty bowl with a ribbon on it and when I
need some extra motivation and support I pull one out to read.
They always bring me back to reality and the reason I am on this
Journey of a Lifetime!
I am confident that all of you CAN do this Journey. In fact I
KNOW it but it's important for YOU to know it too! Find all the
motivation you can from any source you can to help keep you on
your Journey! If you haven't already visited our Message Board,
http://www.dwlz2.com/forum/
please do. We have the nicest, supportive Zonies.
"Each time you make a positive choice, you close the distance
between the way you want to live and the lifestyle you want to
leave behind."

What's for Dinner?
Quick dinner tonight! My favorite kind.
Trader Joe's Fettuccine with Mushrooms (serving size is 1 cup)
[150 calories/5 grams fat/2 grams fiber/22 grams carbs].
Green Beans
Pudding Cup, Sugar-Free, Fat-Free, Chocolate
[60 calories/0 grams fat/0 grams fiber].
Portion Size Tip
1 teaspoon of margarine is the size of a quarter. Those quarters
can sure add up so be very careful.
Until Next Time
WOW! Where did the time go? It's been so great visiting with you.
Thank you for allowing me to do that. I think I'm going to like
our time together. I'm rooting for you on your Journey. I have
faith in you that you CAN and WILL accomplish your weight loss
goals. You are always a SUCCESS on this Journey when you haven't
given up wanting it. Giving up is not an option.
Until next time...
