Your BMR represents your Basil Metabolic Rate of burning Calories. It is a maintenace level for your body, and is about what you would burn if you slept for 24 hours per day.

The actual number of Calories you will burn per day on average will be your BMR, multiplied by an activity factor that you will find in your BMR Report.

If you want to lose weight, you will need to burn 3,500 more Calories than you eat over the period of time you wish to lose the weight. If your body is burning 2100 Calories a day, and you eat 1600 Calories every day, you will burn 3,500 extra Calories in one week (500 Calorie deficit x 7 days), and your weight will drop by one pound.

It is highly recommended that you aim for no more than a deficit of 1,000 Calories per day, and you should never aim for less than a total of 1800 Calories per day in your eating, if you are a man, or less than 1200 Calories per day if you are a woman.

If you would like to have a safe slow approach to weight loss, aim for a deficit of 15 or 20 percent under your daily maintenance level.
