Week’s Data
Week 268 Update I weighed in at 191.0 pounds on Saturday. It has been hard for me to focus properly on the scale as I have been battling this virus that we picked up in Spokane. I know that I am over where I want to be, but I just seem off stride for reining things in. We were fighting high temperatures outside, while we were also battling fevers inside. The high temperature for the day on Saturday jumped up from 80° on 'Friday, to 91°. Sunday it continued to climb up to 98°. Monday it was 101°, and that was really hot for this part of the country. Fortunately, the temperature started to drop after that, and on Tuesday the high was 88°, Wednesday was 81°, and Thursday was 82°. Much better. However, on Friday it jumped back up to 91°. The only bright spot during this heat wave was that our low temperature made it down into the 50s every day but Monday, and even that scorching day dropped down to 62° in the evening. With our flu, Dotti and I didn't spend a lot of time outdoors. Tuesday we had to do some shopping, and so we did, but I felt very nearly like I was going to pass out, just walking from the car into the stores. The 88° in the shade temperature was increased greatly when I was in the sun, and I wasn't ready for that. When we got home I took my temperature and hit had shot up to 101.5°. On Friday we had some more chores to run, and even though the temperature was up to 91°, I didn't have any problems with my temperature going up as well, which was a relief. On Monday I thought I was feeling a bit better, and so I tried walking on the treadmill at a slow pace, just to test the waters. That night I didn't feel to badly, but I had gotten a little overheated. (That was our hottest day outside.) I drank 24 ounces of water during the walk, and I used a water spray bottle to try and keep myself cool. I am not sure if that contributed to my fever on Tuesday or not, but it might have. I have tried to get well ever since we got sick. I have thought I was almost there, only to fall back again. I had started to feel bad on June 14, and so it has been a couple of weeks so far, but it looks like it will take longer to get all the way back to normal. I was able to walk 2.5 miles on Thursday with no harmful aftereffects and that was nice. The amount of food I ate for the week was not excessive, but the time of day that I was eating it was pretty late. I have had trouble eating my meals at regular hours and that seems to be causing problems on the scale. I hope to straighten that problem out as I get closer to being well once more. 5 years, 51 days OP; a lifetime to follow. -Al-
