Week 47 Update

It was about 5:30 AM, on a dark gray morning, when I stepped up on Mr. Scale. He said, "184.5 pounds." (The Tanita scale, which is always right on with the WW scale Dotti weighs in on each month, said that I weighed 181.0 pounds.) So, I am back within 0.5 pounds of my target weight. I can now celebrate a 3 pound gain this week. :)

I noticed that this week my overall average weight since May 12, when I started my journey, fell below 200 pounds. By averaging each of my daily weigh-ins together, on March 29 it came to 200.0 and on March 30 it fell to 199.9! So, even my average weight for my entire journey is below my main "WW goal" of 200 pounds! It 10 months and a couple of weeks to get here, but now even my overall average weight is at goal. They don't give any awards for that. However, it still feels pretty good.

My average weight for the week this week came out to 184.0 even. That is up about two-thirds of a pound from last week, and is safely within the 185 plus-or-minus 2 pounds window that I have set for myself as my goal.

I didn't do so well on exercise this week. I took a walk on Wednesday at lunch. I walked 1.3 miles in 20:44 which earned me just over 2.5 aerobic points. Not too good. I was going to try again on Friday but I was rained out. One positive thing that has come up is that I was looking at a picture that I had taken of Dotti next to a new sign in our park near our home, I noticed that they changed the hours for the park. It is now open at 5:00 AM and stays open until 10:00 PM. That is big change, because it was open from 7:00 AM to dusk before. I can now use the park year round to do walking or jogging. That might be just what I need to get me going again on exercise!

My water consumption for the entire journey, now averages out to 94.6 ounces per day. For this week, I averaged 96.0 ounces (12 cups) per day. That puts me up a bit from the 84.6 ounces (10.5 cups) per day I had last week.

This week I didn't have any 50+ point days. In fact my highest point count for any single day was yesterday's 42.5 points. On average I ate 38.57 points per day, which is up over a point from the week before. Perhaps I am settling in again at a new point around 37 or 38 points for my maintenance area. I am going to be like Tolkien's Ents, and not going to be hasty, however. I will continue to monitor how my weight responds on a daily basis as I continue my maintenance journey.

And speaking of Ents…

This week in books

This week I finished The Fellowship of the Ring for the second time, and I have gotten well into The Two Towers. I am very close to the mid point of the entire trilogy right now. It has been fun going through it again, because there are so many references to things early in the books to things later in the books that you just can't connect up the first time through. The second time through, especially so soon after going through it before, makes all of those remarks made by the characters quite meaningful.

I finally decided that I was not all that excited in finishing The Delta Factor right now, so I jumped into one of the several Perry Mason books I picked up last week in a used book store. (I found several of his books that I didn't have already, and that is getting harder to do!) This particular book is entitled, The Case of the Runaway Corpse." I am almost halfway through it, and enjoying it immensely. Many of the pre-PC era books have a quality about them that I find refreshing, and it just can't be found in books written today. I especially like the Perry Mason books, because he is always self-confident, even when he's in hot water, and is always using his brain to get out of trouble. Perry Mason mysteries are light reading and fun.

At lunch I have had errands to run, nearly ever day, and I took a walk on Wednesday at lunch. So, I have not made it back to The Winds of Darkover at all. We will see how I do on it next week.

329 days OP, a lifetime to follow.
