Success Stories - BrendaPlease click on thumbnails to see the full size photo. I wrestled with my weight ever since I can remember. I was always larger than my classmates in Elementary & Junior High. In Senior High I was diagnosed with a chronic disease and was put on Predisone(a Steroid), along with other medications. My weight problem got worse & I was blaming it on my disease & medication. I tried many 'fad' diets & my disease kept me from being as active as I wanted to be, so I just gained & gained. In March 2000 my sister suggested we go to a Weight Watcher's meeting. I really was not in a 'slump' about my weight at that time & wasn't really interested in WW, as I thought it wouldn't work like all the other 'fad' diets I had tried. I ended up going to my first meeting on March 23, 2000 and tipped the scale at 180.2 - WOW, I did not know my weight was quite that. I started the WW program & it changed my life. I lost 52 ponds in 52 weeks & never felt deprived or moody. For the first time in my life people have actually called me skinny, that feels good! My husband & I had taken a trip to Ixtapa Mexico in April of 2000 and I wore my 'skirt' swimsuit to disguise my weight. We went back to Puerto Vallarta Mexico this past April & I was able to wear a two piece, I was very proud of myself! ( I have before & after pictures!!!) I will admit is was expensive to lose the weight(WW weekly dues, buying 'the right' foods & produce, buying new clothes-I love clothes!) but prior to WW I if someone would have told me I was guaranteed to lose weight but would have to pay $100.00 per pound, I would have done it, so in that respect, it was worth it & I would not change it for the world. WW was a lifestyle change for me & my doctor thinks I am controlling my disease with this change in diet & exercise. WW worked for me because I like to eat a lot & you need to maintain a minimum amount of points to succeed on the program. I know I would not have been as successful if it wasn't for the support I received from my husband & family. I am passionate about WW and share my story whenever I can. I just recently starting working as a receptionist for WW and I love helping others achieve their goal, I hope to train to be a WW leader in the near future. Since I had a weight problem my entire life, I know it is going to be difficult for me to maintain, but with the tools WW have given me and Dotti's website, it's a challenge I can handle & I will continue to succeed! Started WW: March 23, 2000 - 180.2 lbs. Lost 52 lbs in 52 weeks on WW.
