Hi! Welcome to my first blog. My name is Dotti and I am the owner and webmistress of Dotti’s Weight Loss Zone aka DWLZ. I created my website on September 20, 1998, after I hit my goal with Weight Watchers. I love Weight Watchers and always have. They have taught me so much, especially to enjoy eating the healthy way. It’s hard to believe Dotti’s Weight Loss Zone has been around since 1998.
A lot has happened since that day I created Dotti’s Weight Loss Zone. My weight has been up and down a lot but I never gave up wanting the healthy lifestyle and to be at a healthy weight. It’s kept me going all these years. In 2011, June and September, I had both my hips replaced. I had an excellent doctor in Spokane, WA and I recovered quickly from the surgery with no complications.
While in Spokane, I was taking care of Als Mom, Betty, who had Alzheimers. Between taking care of Mom, recovering from my two hip surgeries, and losing a best friend, I fell into a deep depression which lasted until 2013. In August of 2012, Al and I had to pack up again and move; the owner of our rental house was not paying his mortgage with the money we were paying him. He was keeping it for himself. He was in arrears for two years and lost the house, to be auctioned off in December. We did not want to move in the winter. We couldn’t find a house we wanted in Spokane so we made the very hard decision to move back to the place we call home, Vancouver, WA. Having to leave my son, LeRoy and his family, our grandchildren and daughter-in-law, behind in Spokane was very hard. This was something Al and I had to do to get our lives back and get me out of this depression.
We settled into our new home, found new doctors, and have been enjoying being back home. Als Mom passed away in Spokane soon after we moved. I was so happy that Al made it back up there to hold her hand while she passed quietly in her sleep. My doctor changed my prescription and I started to feel a bit better. I’ll tell you, it’s been a rough couple of years with too many life-changing events taking place in our lives in such a short time.
My plan is to make 2014 my year to get back to my goal weight and continue on this healthy lifestyle. I’m off to a good start. I started tracking, exercising, and carefully watching what I ate, in September 2013. I’ve been going strong ever since. My favorite exercise machine is the elliptical. My favorite outdoor activity, when weather allows, is hiking. We have some beautiful places here in the Pacific Northwest. The Columbia River Gorge is absolutely breathtaking.
I want to take this time to thank all of you for your continued love and support. You have really helped me through these last years. Please know that you have all made a difference in my life.
