Finally Updating… Friday, Sept 19, 2014

courageFirst, I’d like to thank all of you all who have emailed me, concerned about how I’m doing.  Thank you for caring.

I know it’s been awhile since I last updated this blog but rest assured I am fine.  I stepped away from the routine I was in for a month and a half.  I’ve made this Journey a lifestyle so I was able to keep the damage to a minimum.  I gained 8 lbs. Even though I didn’t exercise or journal, I did make good food choices.  Of course, journaling is the only way to know what you ate for the day, as you can see from my results.  My lowest weight before I took a break was 201.6 lbs.  My weight today was 207 lbs.  I got back on track on Saturday, September 13th.  It feels good going in the right direction again.

I love exercising on my elliptical.  It’s easy on my knees and new hips (2011) and I’ve been able to maintain Level 9 for 45 minutes and going 3 miles.  I’m happy with that.

Thursday – Sept 18, 2014Elliptical L9, 45 minutes, 3.4 miles, 409 calories burned.
Tuesday – Sept 16, 2014 – Elliptical L9, 45 minutes, 3.3 miles, 389 calories burned.
Sunday – Sept 14, 2014 – Elliptical L9, 45 minutes, 3.1 miles, 364 calories burned.
Saturday – Sept 13, 2014 – Elliptical L9, 45 minutes, 3.1 miles, 364 calories burned.

Our 40th anniversary of our first date is coming up on September 28th.  Way back in 1974 I suggested we walk to the top of Multnomah Falls.  We plan to celebrate our first date by again walking to the top of the falls and have a nice picnic lunch at the river up there.  So far, the weather is looking good, cool and clear.

Dannon Light Fit 80 calorieI found a new favorite Greek yogurt, Dannon Light & Fit Greek Yogurt – 80-calorie.  I’m telling you, this is the best greek yogurt I have ever had.  I have been using the Chobani that I get from Costco and then they didn’t have it one week.  I went to Walmart Supercenter and found these.  They were $1.00 each but that’s about what I paid for the 15-pack Chobani at Costco, so cost-wise it was about the same.  My favorite is the Caramel Mocchiato, next the Strawberry Cheesecake.  They all have 12g of protein too!  There are a few other flavors I would like to try, Raspberry Chocolate and Cherry Chocolate, but can’t find them yet.  🙁   Dannon Fit & Light Greek Yogurt, 80-Calorie

Al and I are planning on going to our granddaughters 3rd birthday on October 7th.  Her party is on2014-09-14 14.25.41 Sunday, October 5th, which just so happens to be my birthday too.  Emily is getting so grown up and the first 3 years just flew by.  Leaving you with a photo of her with her princess crown on.  She loves being girly-girly.  I can’t wait to get my hands on her!  🙂

button4up  As for my Journey, I am feeling like I’m heading in the right direction in getting back to my healthy routine and start losing again.  I’m exercising and journaling again. I’m listening to my Enjoying Weight Loss Hypnosis CDs again to help keep me motivated and focused. They never fail me when I take the time to listen to the different tracks on the CDs. Why I quit, I’ll never know.  I love Dr. Roberta Temes.button2up

    Completely understand what you are talking about. There are times I think nothing but program and it burns you out. I am taking a 4 day sabbatical and enjoying it…but hopefully not THAT much…IYKWIM. Great job on the *E*!

    Thanks for posting, Dotti. You never fail to inspire me. As the great philosopher Goethe said, ‘It’s not so important where we stand but the direction in which we are moving.’ I am currently trying to motivate myself to move in a better direction after a lengthy period of NO exercise and eating high-calorie foods with wild abandon. I am afraid to even get on the scale. I know it will not be pretty. I admire you so much. You are being accountable to yourself and you are back on track.

    Dotti, I am so proud of you! There was a time when taking a break like that would spell complete doom. I was deeply concerned in my heart that was going to happen again, and I so wanted you to succeed all the way to goal this time! You have done awesome so far, and even taking a break, you did awesome. I think the only real goof was my fault when we had pizza. But you didn’t just cut loose and you didn’t quit. And you didn’t run your weight up like a rocket ship. And look at you: 207 pounds!

    I have been going through pictures for various projects, and I am absolutely amazed by how thin you look today compared with so many of those old pictures! And I have a feeling that once you break through that 200 barrier, and enter One-derland, there will be no stopping you all the way to goal. You are my hero Babe!

    And the intensity you are putting into your workouts is very high. You are going to be ready for our hike! (So far the forecast is still calling for clear and sunny that day! There is rain predicted for two days before it, partly cloudy the day before, and rain one day after it, but the day itself is still looking sunny. We’ll keep our fingers crossed!) Happy 40th anniversary Babe! I sure got lucky!!!
