Hello June

Hello June

Time is flying by!  Summer will officially be here in no time.  Our weather here has been crazy, as it has been in other parts of the country.  One day it’s in the 60’s, the next the 80’s.

My doctor gave me a higher dose of one of my medications, changed it to extended release and after a week in a half, I feel it’s too much.  I’ve put a request in to lower the amount but haven’t heard back from him yet.  Hopefully, lowering it back down will help.  I’ve been very blah with no motivation to do anything.  I swear, it’s always something.

LeRoy is the Garden Center Manager at his Fred Meyer store.  He loves it.  He loves doing up his yard in the many flowers he sells.  The kids love helping him as you can see in the collage.  Did I ever tell you how much I love these kids? images/smilies/11Love-My-Grandkids.jpg

Speaking of the grandkids, Al and I will be seeing them today.  It’s been about a week.  We got Emily a little Frozen suitcase with wheels and a handle, for when she spends the night.  This will let Emily be able to bring some of her dollies over.  She loves playing dollies.  I think she is going to like it.

My poor Al has been fighting teeth issues on the bottom.  He has all implants on the top.  After another appointment today at 3 pm he should be done with the tooth that was hurting the most.  The dentist filled the others as that is all we could afford at this time.  Some of them need root canals and/or crowns but we have to save to get them done.

I’ve been working hard on trying to get back on track, one thing at a time.  First, I need to get off the Diet Dr. Pepper.  A few once in awhile is okay but I will drink 4-6 cans a day.  I have found if I don’t have any in the house, I will  as long as it’s iced.  I also put Crystal Light in the water sometimes.  My plan is to buy Al his Shasta Diet Cream Soda (he only drinks one with his dinner and popcorn) and not buy any Diet Dr. Pepper, which I love.  I’m hoping this plan will work.  I feel so much better when I drink water.  I didn’t drink any yesterday (ran out of them) and I did have a bad headache when I went to bed so I will have to deal with a caffeine withdrawal to some extent.  I don’t drink coffee but do have an occasional latte (Keurig).

The next think I want to work on is moving more.    Al and I are going to start walking 30 minutes, 3 days a week to start.  If we walk longer that will be good but we want to make sure we do the 30 minutes, 3 days a week to start.  We are planning to have Emily over a lot during the summer as she is a swimmer and loves the pool.  We  have one on the property.  Al is planning on teaching her to swim.  This will give us some more exercise .  When I’m ready I hope to get to the property gym which has a couple ellipticals and treadmills.  They also have a couple handball/racquetball courts that Al would love to use.  We got him some handball stuff and new tennis shoes for that.

This Journey of ours is not an easy one.  There are so many ups and downs and then life throws you a curve ball.  I believe that as long as you never give up wanting that healthy weight and lifestyle you will succeed.  The success may not be when you want it but it will come if you persevere.

Heading Into the Home Stretch

Heading Into the Home Stretch

The day is almost here when I get my screws out of my ankle and get out of the wheelchair.  It’s been a long 3 months not stepping on my right foot.  I still have PT ahead of me but at least I’ll finally be able to step on my right foot again.  Workman’s Comp finally said okay to start light duty after I get my screws removed on February 10th.  I’ve been fighting with them for the last month.  Giving up the fight was not an option.  It will probably be another week after I start stepping on my right foot again since the calf muscle has a lot of atrophy.  PT is just around the corner.  I cannot wait to become mobile again.

Happy New Year 2015

Happy New Year 2015

Happy New Year_88 Happy New Year everyone!  2015 is going to be a good year.   On January 14th I will have worked in the Deli for 3 months.  It’s hard to believe that much time has gone by already.  I’m about 3-4 weeks away from my first raise, which I’m excited for.  Work has been keeping me pretty busy these days.  I love working in the deli because you are always moving, either cooking, waiting on customers, and many other chores.  I love the customers.  They are the best.

I would like to get more regular about posting here in this new year.  I am also trying to get back on my path back to goal.  I’m golden in the exercise department; work takes care of that.  My eating needs to be reined in and I need to take my lunch to work where I HAVE CONTROL of what I eat instead of grabbing stuff when I’m starving and tired.  I also need to drink more water and cut back on my Diet Dr. Pepper.  Tracking is so important when I’m on track and in control; need to get back to that too.  So, it’s back on the right path towards my goal.EmilySarahDec2014

My granddaughters got their pictures taken right before Christmas.  They all came out so good!  Sarah is becoming quite the teenager and our Emily is 3 now!

Al and I had a nice Christmas Day at my brother Bobs house.  They cooked a turkey with all the trimmings and great lasagna.  I got up early that day and made an Upside-Down Pineapple Cake, a Dreamscicle Dessert, Chocolate Covered Mini-Pretzels and lots of deviled eggs.  We had a great time, great food, and great music by my dear Al.  He played his electric guitar and sang all our favorite Christmas songs.  We had to leave early due to the fact I had to get up at 2 am for work the next morning.

Have an awesome 2015 and thanks so much for visiting.
