My Journey Back to Goal

January 2010 Accountability

I will exercise 5 days a week

I will listen to my "Enjoying Weight Loss"
hypnosis CD's  3  times a week

I will stay on my Weight Watcher Program

I will drink enough water daily

I will not give up!  Never!


I will be tracking my weigh-ins, which are on Wednesdays.  I will also be tracking my "Enjoying Weight Loss" hypnosis sessions and my daily Points for the day, ounces of water and how my day went. I have found the format below to be a good one for me.

I had a good start on my Journey Back to Goal in September and part of October. I once again let life get in the way of my Journey and gained back what I loss plus a few more pounds.  It's a good thing I don't give up because as you and I both know, it does get discouraging.

I cannot relive yesterday and tomorrow isn't here yet,
so I will just deal with today.

Jan 1 ~ Starting Weight [ 235.5 lbs ] No elliptical - plans changed; took a nice drive with Jim & Tammy for their anniversary ~ 32 oz water ~ 28 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Eating Smart" hypnosis session ~ today is the start of a new year and a new century. It's also the day to get back on track to start losing this extra weight that is killing me slowly. Good first day since plans changed during the day. I fixed a nice OP dinner (taco salad) for Tammy and Jim so staying on Program was no problem. Still have the 'crud' - wish it would go away! Sneezing, coughing and eyes are hurting.

Jan 2 ~ Walked around SuperWalmart for about 3 hours checking out their enormous "giveaway" sale. Happy to report there is still money in my wallet. ~ 40 oz water ~ 30 pts ~ still no elliptical but I did get out of the house and move some. Visited with LeRoy and then went to SuperWalmart. I felt good today with my water intake and my Points were a bit higher than I wanted but I'll get back in the groove ~ One Day at a Time!

Jan 3 ~ Took down all my inside Christmas decorations, packed them up and put them away. I also rearranged my living room and dining room. About 6 hours total, non-stop. ~ 28 oz water ~ 29 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Exercising Regularly" hypnosis session ~ I actually did too much with no break. My lower back was hurting so bad I could hardly move by the time I was done. I need to learn not to overdo things. I didn't get the water in I needed as I was on-the-go, not stopping for much of anything. I feel I'm doing okay on my Points but still not giving this Journey 100%, which is the only way I'm going to succeed.

Jan 4 ~ No exercise today. ~ 32 oz water ~ 29 pts ~ due to the fact that I could not sleep last night after all the work I did yesterday I was pretty much useless and tired for much of the day. I was also very sore from using muscles I hadn't used in quite some time. Ate all day but no junk food. Tomorrow will be a better day. My 'crud' has moved down to my nose and throat but does seem to be getting a little better. I'm in the second week of having it.

Jan 5 ~ Weighin [ -2.5 lbs ~ 233 lbs ] ~  Another no-exercise day. That is what happens when I overdo in the activity department; I'm wiped for days afterwards. ~ 16 oz water ~ 32 pts ~ I'm adding popcorn to my Points as I'm planning on having some soon. My plans for the day changed this morning when something came up that took me out of the house for the day. I would have liked a lower Point value for the day but it is what it is. I need to start focusing more on this Journey and what I need to do to succeed and Just Do It!

Jan 6 ~ No tracking today.

Jan 7 ~ No exercise today. ~ 24 oz water ~ 34 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Avoiding Temptation" hypnosis session ~ I've been sleeping better when I take my sleeping pill but I hate taking it.  I've decided that I need it though because I cannot do this Journey the right way without my sleep.  So, it is what it is, and I will adjust. I got up late and then Al and I went to the coffee shop, The Service Station, to do some work and relax in a different atmosphere than home.  Of course, we haven't quite conquered not getting at least ONE of the baked goodies and today was no exception. Still not enough water or exercise and too many Points for the day.  On to tomorrow.

Jan 8 ~ No exercise. Slept Well. ~ 32 oz water ~ 28 pts ~ I'm starting to feel a bit better from this 'crud' I've had for the last couple of weeks. Food is starting to taste better so my appetite is getting back to normal. My coughing is almost gone. I have been focusing on my water and my Points for the day and in those areas I am doing okay. I'm hoping to hop up on the elliptical in the next day or so, adding regular exercise into my Program. Today was a day of working on the restaurant pages and I accomplished a lot. I went to bed at a decent hour, trying to get a new habit formed.

Jan 9 ~ No exercise. Slept Well. ~ 40 oz water ~ 27 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Exercising Regularly" hypnosis session ~ I slept very good last night. My fibromylagia is literally a draining experience when it rears it's ugly head, but luckily I can rest when I need, which helps a lot. Al and I made a quick trip to Costco to pick up some photos and just a few things. We ate at Subway BEFORE which helped a lot in keeping us away from the food court. Being in control is such a good thing! Good day today all around.

Jan 10 ~ No exercise. Slept well with the help of an Ambien. ~ 32 oz water ~ 29 pts ~ I continue to work on the restaurant pages and the revamping of the pages is almost done. Staying on Program has not been a problem. I'm also busy with my bookkeeping (I can't believe it's tax time already) and a few other projects I let fall by the wayside. Quiet day. Good day on Program. Still trying to start that elliptical with no luck.

Jan 11 ~ No exercise. Slept well with the help of an Ambien. ~ 28 oz water ~ 26 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Avoiding Temptation" hypnosis session ~ I've been so tired lately with little motivation to do much of anything. I need to get moving and see a lot more faces. I've had some stressful things on my mind and I know that is affecting my motivation and being so tired. Al and I did a bit of shopping and headed home around 5:30 pm. I continue to work on the restaurant pages (full time job, I swear!). Okay day today.

Jan 12 ~ No exercise. Slept well. ~ 22 oz water ~ 35 pts ~ I got up early as I had to take my niece to a doctors appointment. LeRoy escorted us around town, which was so nice. I ran the GPS when we got lost finding the office. I started a turkey roasting before I left but when we got home late, found it to be overcooked and a bit dry. I forgot to ask Al to turn it off at 5 pm. Oh well, we enjoyed the dinner anyway with LeRoy. I didn't drink enough water and had too many points today. S0-SO day on Program.

Jan 13 ~ Weighin [ maintain ~ 233 lbs ] ~ Got some exercise putting together a new TV/component stand and a 5-shelve leaning bookcase. Did a lot of walking around stores in the area I wanted to check out; on my feet a lot today. ~ 24 oz water ~ 29 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Eating Smart" hypnosis session ~ I got a lot of stuff done, walked a lot throughout some stores in the area that I've been meaning to check out and basically, felt good most of the day. I did not drink enough water. I'm enjoying listening to my hypnosis sessions; they calm me and encourage me to keep on keeping on.

Jan 14 ~ No exercise. Slept well. ~ 40 oz water ~ 27 pts ~ I worked a lot on our restaurant pages and am almost done with the revamping project. Staying on Program has not been a problem. I got my water in today but I usually have problems when diet Dr. Pepper is in the house. So, when this last batch of pop is gone, I will not buy more. That usually does the trick. I had a nice time with LeRoy today for a couple of hours. All in all, good day.

Jan 15 ~ No exercise. Slept well. ~ 30 oz water ~ 27 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Appreciating Yourself" hypnosis session ~ I'm still quite tired but I'm thinking it could also be from taking my Ambien again. They usually keep me pretty tired for half the day after but the alternative is no sleep which is worse, believe me. Food choices were good today and I kept my Points in my range. I didn't have too much trouble getting down my 30 oz of water. All in all, okay day

Jan 16 ~ No exercise. Slept well. ~ 36 oz water ~ 32 pts ~ I slept in today and boy, it felt good. I woke relaxed. We had Jim & Tammy over for dinner and cards (Spades). For dinner I prepared the Stouffers Lasagna with garlic bread (low pt), a huge salad with all the fixin's, and dessert was the WW Smart Ones - Peanut Butter Cup Sundae, which was only 3 pts and to die for! We had a blast playing Spades. The last time the four of us played was back in 1983! We have a lot of catching up to do. It was a relaxing night of laughs, memories and good times. A great day!

Jan 17 ~ No exercise. Slept well. ~ 28 oz water ~ 27 pts ~ I slept in again today, mainly because I got to bed at 1:30 last night. The Ambien works for a good 8 hours and here we are. I got my DISH DVR set up with my programs to record. (I had to have them send me a new one as my DVR died.) Water good. Points good. Exercise, none except my foosball games with Al. I need to find a way to get a bit more energy. Oh, I know, maybe start some regular exercise program, like getting back up on my elliptical. Night everyone.

Jan 18 ~ Played about 10 games of foosball with Al, even managed to win 2 of them. We have a nice table downstairs and it's a great break from working at the computer all day. We actually play some every day but today we played quite a few games throughout the day. ~ 30 oz water ~ 26 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Exercising Regularly" hypnosis session ~ Still tired today. Slept in. I did get some more restaurants revamped. One thing about working on the computer - it's hard to eat while you are typing! I drank a jug of water for every diet pop which helped me to drink less pop. All in all it was a good day.

Jan 19 ~ Took a really nice 2.72 mile walk with Al. It was 47 degrees and a sunshiny day. Foosball with Al. ~ 36 oz water ~ 33 pts ~ Happy Birthday to Al's Mom, 79 today. I went over to my son, LeRoys, apartment this morning to help him rearrange his bedrooms to fit in a new computer desk he bought. Guess what? He had a wonderful breakfast ready for me when I got there. As he was finishing up our omelets, he told me to sit down and get started on the french toast and bacon. Then he said to me, "Isn't it nice to sit down and eat first for a change?". Awwwww! That's my son! I'm usually the last one to sit down and eat (aren't all Mothers?) so this was indeed nice. We got a lot done. I headed home by 1:30 pm. Al and took a nice, relaxing walk around our neighborhood. Boy, did it feel good. Why, when we feel so good after getting some exercise, do we fight doing it in the first place? A question to ponder for sure. Good day today. I was a little high on Points but a good day non-the-less.

Jan 20 ~ Weighin [ -1 lb ~ 232 lbs ] ~ Other than playing some foosball with Al, no other exercise. ~ 16 oz water ~ 23.5 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Eating Smart" hypnosis session ~ I got the newsletter done along with some more restaurant pages revamped. I'm just about done. Long project. I didn't get enough water in today but had no problem staying within my Points. I even ate at the low end of my range, which I was happy with. Good day, got a lot accomplished.

Jan 21 ~ Foosball with Al. ~ 24 oz water ~ 27.5 pts ~ Up at 5 am. Tired most of the day. I didn't make the best food choices but I did stay within my Points. I worked all day on the website and accomplished a lot despite being tired. I didn't get as much water in as I wanted to. Accomplished a lot today but needed more sleep, which eluded me.

Jan 22 ~ No tracking today.

Jan 23 ~ Foosball with Al. ~ 56 oz water ~ 17 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Avoiding Temptation" hypnosis session ~ I have not been sleeping well (what's new, right?), even with my sleeping pill. I need to work on getting "stuff" out of my head and relax before going to bed. It's hard for me, especially when I can do nothing about certain situations. As you can see I only managed a little foosball with Al. I didn't come close to eating enough today. I just haven't been very hungry. Al and I had a great evening playing spades with Jim & Tammy. I stuck to some shrimp cocktail and concentrated on having a great time with great friends.

Jan 24 ~ Foosball with Al. ~ 24 oz water ~ 12.5 pts ~ Amazing how not getting your sleep wreaks havoc with all aspects of your weight loss Journey. It continues. I have just not been very hungry and I'm not really sure why. I did make some great homemade soup today in the crockpot. It came out to 2 Points a cup and I ended up with 22 cups. Al and I loved it!I'm still struggling with getting some regular exercise in. Al and I do play foosball most every day so at least I'm moving some there. All in all, good day considering I'm running on pretty much no sleep.

Jan 25 ~ Foosball with Al. ~ 32 oz water ~ 17 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Appreciating Yourself" hypnosis session ~ No sleep schedule. Today I got up at noon and was so tired most of the afternoon that I had to go to bed early. I slept from 7-9:30 pm and then I was up until 4 am. During that time I got a lot of work done on the webpage. Amazing. I've learned to work when I'm awake, no matter what time of the day or night. My fibromylagia and my sleep problems keep are a constant source of frustration but I refuse to give up on my Journey. I will continue on, no matter how I feel. I did not eat enough today. As in the last couple of days, I have just not been very hungry, so why eat?

Jan 26 ~ Foosball with Al. ~ 40 oz water ~ 26 pts ~ I ate a bit more today. I felt much better today after having finally slept good. I was able to make better food choices and action felt like I was in total control today, right down to drinking my water. I love that feeling and hope it stays for awhile.

Jan 27 ~ Weighin [ -2 lbs ~ 230 lbs ] ~ Foosball with Al. ~ 48 oz water ~ 40 pts ~ I went to go see Avatar today with LeRoy, Jim & Tammy. Excellent movie. 3D is definately not what it used to be. I did go "whoa" a couple of times as something headed my way. I made sure to have something to eat before the movie, so I wouldn't overindulge too much. I did pass on the popcorn, which for me, is a good thing. I had some Coke Zero and 2 pretzels (long movie, 2:30 minutes). Dinner was small. My Points are high today but I've been eating so little in the last week, I'm okay with that. I even got my water in. All in all great day - lost 2 lbs, drank all my water and kept my Points in a reasonable range despite going to see Avatar at the movies. It's so nice being in control again. I love it.

Jan 28 ~ No exercise. ~  40 oz water ~  23.5 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Exercising Regularly" hypnosis sessio ~ Today was a good day on Program. I worked most of the day on the computer. I took my neice, Misty, to the emergency room at 7 pm with severe pains on her right side, especially when she moves. We were there until 1 am. They ruled out gallbladder problems. The doctor thought it was musco-skeletal so sent her home with some meds. She is still hurting when she moves but I think she will improve in time. I was so overtired after getting home at 1:45 am that I couldn't sleep. Long night.

Jan 29 ~ Foosball with Al. ~  48 oz water ~  32.5 pts ~ I finally got to sleep around 4 am early this morning and slept until about 11 pm. I do feel rested which will make for a much nicer day. I did a little work and then headed out to Jamies to visit with her and Hunter. I just love it when he says, "I love you Grammy Doe". He's a little lovebug! I had such a great afternoon. We had lunch at the mall and I kept it to a piece of pizza, breadstick and small cone. All in all, I did well and we walked for quite a while after we ate too. A very nice day; a little higher than I wanted on my Points but it's good.

Jan 30 ~ Don't faint, but I did 52 minutes on the Elliptical while watching an episode of Sopranos. ~ 56 oz water ~ 25 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Avoiding Temptation" hypnosis session ~ Up at 4 am after going to bed early last night with a pill. I am rested and ready to go for the day. I finally got my taxes done for WA and am almost done with my bookkeeping for my accountant. I hate this time of year. No stress today and my food choices have been good. I felt great finally getting back up on the Elliptical but boy, I had to work hard to stay on until my show was over, 52 minutes later. Great day today.

Jan 31 ~ Foosball with Al ~ 40 oz water ~ 22 pts ~ listened to Dr. Roberta's "Appreciating Yourself" hypnosis session ~ Okay day today. I have my first colonoscopy scheduled for Tuesday, Feb 2nd, so I needed to make sure I ate something good and filling in the evening. Tomorrow I get nothing but fluids and jello. I hit the sack early, about 7 pm as I was very tired. I did good on my water and Points today.
