It was so delightful to
finally meet Tipper, who posts in the Lifetime Forums. She was in Salt Lake
City with her children to visit relatives just before Labor Day and neither
of us could pass up the chance to meet a flesh and blood Zonie in person!
I picked her up at her in-laws home - both of us totally ignoring the unwritten
rule of meeting Internet acquaintances in a public place! Why worry, this
was our Tipper! Her family is as sweet as she is and had agreed to watch the
kids so we could visit without distraction. It was a cloudless day so I had
chosen a restaurant up the canyon where we could sit outdoors and have a long
visit in the sunshine. Ruth's Diner is an institution around here and a favorite
of the locals, although Ruth herself passed away decades ago!
You would all fall in love with Tipper - she's exactly as she comes across
on the boards! I shared conference pictures and did my best to talk her into
DWLZ 3 in Vancouver - about a day's drive from her home. I sincerely hope
you all have the chance to meet her.
Like all Zonie meetings, the time flew and I certainly did not feel like I
was lunching with a stranger! It was nice to eat with someone who follows
the program - she reached lifetime the very same week I did - and is living
proof it's a lifestyle, not a diet!
And since Lifetime Zonies don't hide from the camera, we couldn't leave without
asking the hostess to take our picture with good ol' Ruth. She looks pretty
amazing for an old broad, don't you think? Although seeing the photo now,
with her standing next to us, does have me regretting I wore that sundress
instead of something more appropriate . . .
Tipper - thanks for taking time out of your vacation to share a meal with
me! Hope to see you next May!
