Al and I got to Sweet Tomatoes at about 12:50 pm - lunch was scheduled for 1 pm! Carole was already waiting for us with a huge smile on her face, in the parking lot in her van. We went inside and waited for the others to arrive. Shortly thereafter Linda showed up with her son - what a joy he was! He looks just like his Mom! Julie and her DH showed up about 5 minutes later - Julie was in a very large leg brace & on crutches - she just had knee surgery (a lot more was involved as it was 3 weeks ago and she is still on crutches and in the knee brace). Wasn't that just wonderful that Julie came to see us on crutches? Yep, I do love that girl! Her DH is very, very nice too! It was a pleasure meeting him!

After visiting for a bit we headed into the salad bar line, chatting all the way! Becky came in while we were getting our salad so of course I had to stop, hug and visit with her - guess Al moved my tray along as we were chatting and hugging away - next thing I knew we were at the cashier and my salad looked very wimpy! Oh heck, who cares when you are visiting with fellow Zonies!

We got to our table and guess what? Kelly and Bethany and their wonderful little boys were already there eating their lunch - they were seated at another set of tables that they were told were reserved in my name! So, we moved the high chairs and all their food over to our sets of tables and all was fine! The boys were so well behaved too!

We had such a wonderful time - Al and I just love our Zonie lunches! Next time we have decided to do it on the Portland side - most of them are from the same area!

Linda - It was so great to see you again - especially since we post in the same forum! You look great!!! It was so nice to meet your son too!

Kelly - WOW! What can I say! 75 lbs down and you look fantastic! You go girl! Keep on keeping on! Kyle is a little sweetie too!

Bethany - I have to say WOW to you too - so nice to meet you! WTG on 50 lbs gone forever! You and Kelly keep each other on the straight and narrow! Joel is a little ladies man!

Becky - So glad you were able to make our lunch - I have been dying to meet you since I read about your meeting with Lissa & Celeste - yep, you are everything Lissa & Celeste said you were and I agree with them, "You do NOT look your age!"

Carole - Your smiling face and cheery disposition always cheer me up! You are doing so awesome on your journey - keep on going!

Julie - It was so wonderful meeting your DH! Thanks for bringing him. What can I say except I've missed you! Thanks for coming even if you did have to hobble in with crutches! We will make a Vader run soon! Have a good recovery and the next time we meet no crutches!

We really missed the others who couldn't make it:

Our "Vader girls" - Mary, JoJo, Carolyn
Sarah (TastefullySarah)
Lynn (JOHNSONZ)
Zanne

Till our next Zonie Lunch - Dotti & Al

---------------------------------------------------------------

Gosh what fun we had at the lunch!

It was so nice to see Dotti and Al again; I know this is an overused word, but they are both so gracious and fun to talk with! Anyone coming to conference 2003 for the first time is in for a real treat.

Julie, hope your crutches/brace are off sooner than the MDs have predicted!

Carole, it was so nice to see you again; keep up the good work .

Kelly, you are doing great! Remember to eat some of your activity points, OK?

Bethany, you are doing great too!!! Keep looking around for your *right mix*, you'll find it.

Becky, I agree, it's too funny that we live so close; when we got home we looked up your DS in the yearbook, my DS recognized him from *around*.

Sure glad we were able to attend!!! I'm looking forward to the next one already~

Linda (RDHinOR)

---------------------------------------------------------------

I had a wonderful time today meeting up with everyone. I'm so glad work cooperated (course paid for it tonight by having to work for 3 hrs) and hubby said I could go.

Dotti & Al - It was so nice to finally get to meet you. I've been looking forward to it since we chatted after I met Celeste. Thanks about 'not' looking my age. It does have its advantages.

Kelly - Next time we need to sit closer so we can chat. I never really got a chance to talk to you at all.

Linda - I can't believe we live sooooooooo close to each other and that our sons go to the same school. Different houses but the same school. Hopefully we'll see each other around school this next year.

Carole - it was nice sitting across from you. Gave me a chance to talk with you at least. I wanted to tell you your cards are really nice. Those pics are so beautiful.

Julie - I hope your knee has a quick recovery. It was so nice that you and hubby were able to make it.

I can't wait to do this again. Yep next time at Sweet Tomatoes down off I-5 by Durham near the Home Depot there.

Becky (tbear53)

---------------------------------------------------------------

I've hobbled out here to the office to chime in. (my hubby would not be too happy... I did get good news that I may be able to go down to one crutch next week. Believe me, I am looking forward to even that! Actually, I'm doing very well and the knee is healing according to plan. Karate is still a long ways off, but walking might happen soon!

Brian and I had a very nice time visiting with you all. Hope to see you again soon in Beaverton?

Linda and your very nice young man- have a safe and memory-making trip to the Emerald Isle!

Becky and Carole - It was nice talking with you gals.

Sweet Dotti- You are a bundle of sunshine! You absolutely radiate and it's infectious to those around you.

My goodness, Al - you are looking slim! What a guy!

I'm sorry I didn't get to chat with the Mommies of the little guys at the end of the table. You mommies sure have your hands full! Such precious little ones...

What a fine bunch of people here!

Hope you see you (and those Vader gals, and Sarah and ?) next time,

Julie (Juju)
