We did it!
Zonies donated 3,001.7 lbs worth of food in the 2nd Annual DWLZ "Pounds
Off" Food Drive. That's 1.5 tons!
Many, many thanks to everyone who
either donated personally, or who enlisted their WW Groups or employers to
help out! We did good!
This is truly what the Holidays are
all about.

**2nd Annual DWLZ "Pounds Lost" Food Drive**
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's that time of year again where we can make a difference
to others who are less fortunate.
We had our 1st Annual DWLZ "Pounds Lost" Food Drive
11/15 to 12/31, 2002 and it was a HUGE success! Zonies donated 3,001.7
lbs worth of food in the First Annual DWLZ "Pounds Off"
Food Drive.
Just think how many people we will be helping this Holiday Season!
You may give your food to shelters, churches - wherever food is needed to
help the less fortunate! If you prefer to give money it works out to a $1.00
a pound. Many last year gave food to the animal shelters while others gave
their time where needed.
This is how it will work: For every pound you have lost you
will donate 1 pound of food or $1.00 to your local shelter or other facility
where help is needed. If you are just starting out on your journey then you
can donate according to the amount of pounds you want to lose or your first
10% you want to lose! Everyone can participate! Don't feel you HAVE to donate
your whole amount lost but please let's all try and donate something (time/food/money)
to the less fortunate!
I would like to thank Susan (susanhammer) who has graciously
volunteered to track our donations again this year. Let's see if we can DOUBLE
last years donations of 3,001.7 lbs!
Al and I participated last year by donating 100 lbs of food
to one organization and giving a $50.00 check to Meals on Wheels. We plan
on donating 150 lbs of SOMETHING again this year (for Al and I). I hope you
will join us in helping others during this Holiday Season.

This is so great!!!!
Thanks for doing this!!
I am going to donate 35lbs worth of Thanksgiving food to the Human Crisis
Council in Orlando Florida. Every year they make up Thanksgiving boxes for
people in need. My children and I volunteer there every Saturday and hand
out food boxes. I have seen the people who get these kinds of donations and
it can make a holiday something worth celebrating.
I am also going to see if my WW Leader will let us do this in
our meetings.
God Bless!!!!

OK - 12 pounds of food sent to school with the kids so far. The Boy Scouts
will be picking up a bag full Saturday (don't have it weighed - or filled
for that matter...lol)
Also, I have at least 50 pounds of clothes to drop off to the
church clothing drive - would that count? LMK
If not, I'll need to get on the stick and get some canned goods
bought!
And I'm in Missouri!

I've decided to help our four-legged friends this year. I just donated $250

I'll probably add to this with the different canned food drives

20 pounds of canned goods to the library food drive.
$100 to the Utah Food Bank.

Oh Anne, how sweet!
BTW - it does NOT have to be food related - I feel anything
counts - it's the "helping" others that is important!
Personally, I would like to see us have another of these in
JUNE - people need help all the time, not just during the holidays and I,
for one, feel if we can put a smile on someone elses face that's worth a million
dollars!!!
Thank you everyone for your donations!!

10lb of canned food to my work's food drive, and $10 to Echo, a mission organization
that works to bring sustainable agriculture to tropical and subtropical areas
in great need.
The Echo donation is very special to me, because Echo develops methods of
farming, and specialized seeds that help some of the most desperate people
in the world to help themselves. If someone is still lookign for a place to
donate, these guys are really heros.

I started my "life change" in April of this year and have lost 25
pounds! I have been maintaining for more than 2 months now and I feel great!
When I came out to the site this week and saw the food drive I was very moved
and thought it was a great idea. My husband and I were just at the grocery
store (he is my biggest supporter) and we donated $25 dollars to the local
food banks. We plan to do more before the Holidays too.
Thanks for providing so much support with your site....you have
helped and reached so many people.

I took this challange to my weight loss friend and together we have donated
83 pounds of food to our church food pantry (her total weight loss) and some
cash which was more then my weight loss so I will leave it at 47 dollars to
the friends of wildfire victims in San Bernardino......This is from CA. I
have to say I did finally go to the neighborhood that burned down because
one of my customers house was saved and we did her windows to help with her
clean up. It was horribly sad on her street of 70 houses three are left standing,
I cried as I drove through and saw the loss and the devistation. People living

Slow start here in Alberta, Canada, but I pulled 5 lbs of foods that weren't
really doing it for me from my pantry and took it down to the Interfaith Food
Bank box at my local grocery store.
Will definitely be filling in the remaining lbs later on - love
to hit those buy one get one free sales at this time of year.
As for a June event - I love that idea. We should all remember
that and do something for "1/2 Way to Christmas".

Does feeding the mind and soul count? If so, as $20 to my contributions, to
cover our donations to the Art Department at Blake Highschool.
That brings it to $40 here, 20 more to go, before Christmas.

I honestly don't know how much the food weighed, but, it was two big bags
full of baby food and formula....lets say 20 lbs. My WWer group is doing this
every year also. They like Dotti's idea for *weight for weight*. They food
bank folkes reminded my leader not to forget the infants and kids.
I also donated 45 books to the guardian ad litum group.

I have lost 20 lbs...I have multiplied this by 10 (the amount I still want
to lose) and have donated 200 dollars to a local refugee center.
I also pledge 20 (for pounds lost) gifts to needy children,
I have donated 12 so far and will bring 8 more to the Charity Luncheon tomorrow.
I also have donated 4 grocery bags (how many pounds is that???
10 lbs each??? So 40 lbs...) of rice, canned goods, coffee...etc to the school
who is collecting for the needy.
By the way- I am in Holland, and the refugee center is housing
Afghanistan women and children who fleed for their lives. If you need a local
State to count for your talley....my last home was in VA.

items were donated to the Bethesda Center in Ashland City, Tennessee today:
Flour - 40 pounds
Rice - 40 pounds
Dry Pinto Beans - 20 pounds
... for a total of 100 pounds to honor my weight lost on WW

Yikes I dont have 77lbs of food OR $77 dollars so I will get creative with
the 7's and take what I come up with to my church...
I know 7x7 is 49. I can donate 49 items. Im sure if I can get
some good sales on cans that will equal 49lbs..
can I do it this way? we are pretty tight.
Ok i feel guilty! I will do my darnest to get 77lbs worth of
stuff out to my church. I dont want to give less as even if we dont have much,
others have even less or nothing at all.

Food Drive

Tiff - I'm sure however you do it, someone will be blessed by it!
FWIW - My 100#s of food at Sam's cost about $ 25.00 because I bought in bulk.
Organizations that cook meals can use things bought this way better than organizations
that help individuals. But a 10# bag of dried beans is a great source of protein
and would help one family for a long time!

Hi Susan -
I'm from Indiana. I'm making a donation of 77 pounds of food,
paper products, etc. to my 8-year old daughter's school food drive, which
will provide for two local needy families and a local food pantry.
60 pounds already lost
15 pounds more to reach my official goal
2 extra pounds to lose to give me a buffer
----
77 pounds total
What a great way to visualize my weight loss, help others, and
help my daughter learn about sharing our blessings!
We have the groceries all sorted, bagged and weighed. It was
fun! We will be delivering them to her school tomorrow.

TX here!
DS10 and I just gathered up 40 lbs of food to take to his school
tomorrow for their food drive. We are both amazed at how much that is! I started
out with 2 big sacks and jumped up on the scales, only to find out that I
wasn't even half way to 40 lbs!
I then called my mother, who has lost 40 lbs also, and told
her about the drive. She's gathering her 40 lbs of food right now and I will
take to the school tomorrow afternoon.
