UPPER LATOURELL FALLS

The Upper Latourell Falls is described in several source books as being 75 to 100 feet in height. It sounds as if it were never measured precisely and this is the best estimate available. Looking at the structure of the falls, I don't see how it could actually vary by 25 feet in height from time to time. No matter what its height, this falls is beautiful!

This shot shows the the entire falls, and the bridge that crosses the Latourell Creek on its way on down toward the lower falls.

The creek first tumbles over the wider upper falls, on a path aimed right at the camera. Then the water gathers itself for the nearly 90° change in direction, as it squeezes through the narrower opening leading to the lower falls.

There is a path leading behind the falls, but I didn't think about using it at the time. I must be slipping.

Rip is looking at something up the trail.

My lovely lady with the Upper Latourell Falls behind her.

Zeroing in on the upper sections of the falls.

Coming even closer to the upper section, on the right side, so that you can see many of the individual drops.

The area marked in the red box is what you will see in the next picture, but greatly expanded.

Now here are some individual water droplets for you.

The lower section of the falls has a fallen tree projecting from its launch point.

The fallen tree is right at the top of this picture, hardly noticable. But in contrast, the falls looks strikingly beautiful.

This is a closeup of the center of the strike point from the falls.

Here is the left edge of the falls stream, and you can see the turbulance that it is creating.

On the far right side of the falls, the water looks like a heavy rainfall.

It just doesn't get any better than this!

Dotti appears to be stumped, but I am not sure. (Big Groan.)

The stump, Rip, and I all posed in front of the falls.
