Week 97 Update

Rain was falling, and the temperature was sitting at 53º at 04:30 when I stepped up on Mr. Scale and he said, “186.0 pounds!"

Ninety-seven weeks ago, on May 12th, I started my journey, by eating 24 points, drinking 14 cups of water, and walking a mile and a third in 21:50. (2.34 aerobic points.J) Since that day, I have brought my average weight for my entire journey down to 192.0, something I am very happy about. (That means, even including the losing phase of my journey, my average weight has nearly fallen to my goal of 190 pounds!) My total for average points-per-day eaten for my entire journey is now 37.4, which has slowly crept up from the 25.0 points-per-day average that I had when I first hit my goal weight in December of 2001.

This week I averaged 47.93 points per day (up from 42.21 last week), my weigh-in weight went up a pound to 186.0 and my average weight moved up slightly from 186.21 to 186.29. So, my points per day increased by more than 5.5 points, but my weight held fairly constant.

Most of my extra points came last weekend. On Saturday, we were out of the house most of the day, (including a run to the office to ship a part, because I was on call). My meals only came to 20.0 points, but my snacks were 42.5 points! M I was not surprised on Sunday morning that my weight was up to 187.5.L However, after doing pretty well all day until dinner, I ended up eating fairly high in points in the evening, and getting my total up to 50.0. Not as bad as I did on Saturday, but still higher than I had planned. My weight held at 187.5 on Monday morning. I pulled my points back only a bit to 46.0, but it still seemed to help, as my weight fell to 186.0 on Tuesday. I ate 45.0 points, and the scale said 184.5 on Wednesday!J However, I ate 45.0 points again and the scale jumped up to 186.5 on Thursday. So, the low reading was a fluke. I ate 43.0 points, and I dropped to 186.0 yesterday. After eating 44.0 points, this morning my weight held steady at 186.0.ü

For exercise this week I was not as consistent as last week. I only got to the gym twice, and if I hadn’t done a long treadmill session on the second visit, I would not have gotten enough aerobic points in to meet my goal. I only did weight training one day this week, so that was not what I had planned. I will see if I can do better this next week.

As for the actual exercise I did this week: on Saturday, I did an upper body workout on the weight machines, and I did 30 minutes on the basketball court. On Sunday and Monday, I didn’t do any exercise. On Tuesday, I woke up early and made it to the gym before work. I walked 4 miles in just under 50 minutes. I was very pleased with the time, and the fact that I was able to walk the entire last mile at 5.0 mph. Wednesday, I took another break, but I knew by Thursday that I would have to get in some exercise both of the last 2 days, or I would not hit my goal of 30 aerobic points. It ended up raining both days during my lunchtime walk – off and on for Thursday, and continuously on Friday. On Thursday, I walked 3 miles during lunch. On Friday, I walked 2 miles. That was enough to give me 32.75 aerobic points for the week, and so I reached my goal!ü

My water consumption was not consistent but I did get in an average of 72 ounces (9 cups) each day. I had a couple of really low days and some where I drank a lot more than 72 ounces. So, while this upcoming week I will try and be more consistent in drinking at least 6-8 cups each day, overall I did hit my goal this past week for average water consumed per day.ü

It was not a perfect week, but I weighed-in within my target range, my average weight was in my target range, I hit my goal for number of aerobic point, and average water consumed. I look forward to doing even better during week 98, which will be the next to last week in my current journal book: Book 4. I have Book 5 all ready to go.J It is getting close to week 100! In a few more weeks I will be hitting my two-year anniversary of the start of my journey. It just doesn’t seem like that much time has gone by.

1 year, 314 days OP; a lifetime to follow.
