CONTROL PANEL GRAPH |
FUTURE GRAPH |
60-DAY GRAPH |
90-DAY GRAPH |
1-YEAR GRAPH |
|
|
It was 6:45 AM when I stepped up on Mr. Scale and he said, "205.0 pounds!" Well, that is 5 pounds overweight and moving in the wrong direction.
My Weight Commander Control Panel Graph shows the direction I am heading: UP, UP, UP! The past week's solid squares are trending slightly downward, but the daily weigh-ins have sent a lot of time above the trend line, which will put the trend up.
My Weight Commander Future Graph agrees with the upward trend assessment. It does show only a one pound increase for the next 90 days, but my Journey has not been that consistent for a long time. I will very likely either drop a lot or gain a lot more than 1 pound.
My Weight Commander 60-Day Graph really shows what is going on. The trend line on this graph would be an unbroken rise in weight.
My Weight Commander 90-Day Graph shows the same thing, showing that the trend to be gaining has been going on for 3 months at least!
My Weight Commander 1-Year Graph, from start to finish is nearly a total wash. I am right back where I started from. The difference is that I seem to be going up right now, and that is not good!
Saturday, January 31, I moved my computer from the house to the new office! Of course we worked hard to get the office ready and there is still a lot to do, but the big step has been taken. I thought I would share a few pictures of the mess, to give an idea of where things are at.
When the office finally got closed in, Dotti, Mom and I painted it. Then we went to town and bought a few bricks and boards and I put together some shelves. They are not beautiful, but they are functional for now. Once we clear up the mess the contractor made of our finances, we can look into something nicer perhaps. Then again, I am a pretty simple fellow and don't need things to be too fancy.
Of course, once the shelves were available, it was time to get the books out of their boxes. It was fun creating the empty boxes, by transfering their contents to the shelves. I pretty well filled up the new shelves, and I will definitely need more space, because we have quite a number of boxes of books still waiting in storage for us in Vancouver.
The little wooden Pacman that you see on the shelf is one that I have had in my office for 20 years now, because it was made my son LeRoy, and given to me in 1989. He was only 11 then, (but then I was only 38 ) and it was really nice he made that for me in school. It may be a silly little thing, but it is precious to me; it's a dad thing.
This is one of my two little wooden drawing figures, and Dotti dropped it and it went into this position on its own. She didn't intentionally move its hand to its head, so I had to take a picture. It symbolizes the way I feel on some of our bad days. "Oh my aching head!"
This desk was Dotti's up in Vancouver. However, she has no place for it in the house, and she does have a built in desk to use; so she gave this one to me. Looking over the right side of the desk, as viewed from my chair, the wood stove is visible, along with my slipping ax and some wood. At some point in the future we hope to get a "love seat" or something like that to set in front of the stove. For now we have Dotti's wooden rocker and another office chair for us to sit in.
The books will no doubt change, but I thought they would be a good start to set the desk up. Most of all I enjoy the bookends, which Dotti bought for me a while back. I collect mermaids, and I think these were very nicely done.
Turning to the left from my chair, you can see my mini-fridge, microwave oven, piano keyboard, and mermaid collection. Dotti spent a lot of time putting that display together for me, while I was working around the rest of the office. She also hung the pictures of our grandsons. In the upper left you can see another little figurine that Dotti bought for me, and I really like it a lot. It is of a girl with her hands spread wide, and the caption, "I Love You This Much!"
The guitar amp works well there, and I have cranked it up about as loud as I could stand, to play some music and the place is sound proof enough, or at least far enough away, so Mom and Dotti couldn't even hear me making noise. Now that is a plus I hadn't really thought much about when we first decided to do this. It will be nice having things set up so I can use them right away without a setup and breakdown time factored in to the session. I will be far more likely to play music when I can just jump in and start.
This little shelf sits on my computer table, and holds odds and ends like the phones, scanner, pencil sharpener, and CD shredder. The little figurine in front I have had since the 1970s. It is of a secretary at her desk, with phone, typewriter, and trash can, and she is reading a newspaper called "The Herald." I haven't seen the original caption at the bottom for decades, because I put a label over it and changed it. It originally said something like "Happiness is a good job." But I changed it to say, "Happiness is a good secretary." Dotti used to type everything up for me before we got our first computer. (Some of the songs in the book I put together were done on her manual typewriter back in 1974!) She was my proofreader when I wrote things, and so, it only made sense that with a secretary like Dotti, it was going to be true happiness.
On the left you can just see a picture that is of Dotti and me that was taken on Castle Hill in Sitka, Alaska, by my best friend Jim. I have my arms around her, and my chin on her shoulder. I certainly wouldn't mind reliving that day again!
Moving over by the mermaids, and looking back towards the front door—where I have a bigger than life-sized picture of Dotti that I printed, and taped up on my office door in Vancouver, and quickly put up here when I could—we see the books in disarray. I have a lotof work left to do, but it is nice at least having the books out of their boxes! I always feel lost when I can't grab a book when I need it.
Turning slightly to the right you can see the chairs and wood stove, and my water cooler, which is the only source of water I have here. The air conditioner is stuck in the wall, and powered but there remains some work to do on the outside for draining the condensation away from the wall.
Well, here is my "command center" as of now. I am using my desk for the computer, and Dotti's for a writing desk. I have the stand-alone table that is part of my computer desk, running off towards the lower right of the photo, and it will be used for any sort of work that requires a horizontal surface. One of the things that I know we will be using it for will be our little DWLZ meetings. Yes, it is still a mess, but it is so much better than working out of our bedroom had been.
Here is the view out of my window looking towards the river. I like to look out at the water and de-stress for a moment or two.
Back in November, I took this picture of Dotti pointing out to the river from the same spot the last picture was taken. The little tree in the foreground is brightly lit by sunlight in the preceding picture, but here it looks dark and gray. But Dotti lights up the scene so much you can't possibly mind having the sun behind clouds. A bigger window might have been in order, but I still like the view today.
Since I started working officially in the office on Monday, Mom and Dotti decided to come out and pay me a visit. What I pretty picture they make together!
Last week I helped our neighbor pull his dead pump out of the river, and this week, he got a new one and I helped him get it back into the river. It was between 4 and 5 feet from the bank down to the water, but I was able to get it out away from the bank a bit and work it down into the water. As long as the pump was up, and its wooden sled was down, all would be well he said. Made it!
On Tuesday, Dotti and Mom went off to town, while stayed home to work. They did some errands, and ended up a feed store, where there were some parrots living. The birds were pets, and not for sale. In addition to showing a lot of intelligence in immediately identifying the good character of Dotti and Mom, but this one, sang songs, and in key! Dotti is having a word with the little guy, but he is eyeing Mom with the camera. (A true ham always knows where the camera is! )
Mom wasn't so sure about having the bird on her shoulder, and so she has him out at arm's length. In the background you can see the other one that they visited with. The owner of the store was very friendly and she obviously loved the parrots. Dotti came home very excited by the experience with the birds. Of course Dotti just loves animals, and it is fun to watch how excited she gets when she has a chance to play with a critter.
Just in case you ever need to learn how to properly do power relaxation, just check with Frostbyte. That cat has explored what has been up to now unheard of levels of relaxation. To be any more relaxed than he is, he would have to be dead. He isn't even wasting any excess energy on closing his eyes.
He heard "The Queen" was coming and so he switched to his royal pose mode. He thought they might be making some new sphinxes and he wanted to try out for the role of model.
While things are cooking on the inside, the building still looks tacky on the outside. The contractor only did an inadequate job of spraying the undercoating on, and has left it that way for months now. We did buy some cheap bricks to lay out front as stepping stones, so we could stay out of the mud. It was incredible the amount of mud that had been dragged in the first couple of days. Keeping the floor clean has improved dramatically since we laid down the bricks. Later on, once our contractor is finally completely out of the way, we will do something nicer and more permanent, but for now this has helped a lot.
Dotti and I have had enough of this paint job and we will be starting to fix that this week.
7 years, 271 days on my journey; a lifetime to follow.
