CONTROL PANEL GRAPH |

90-DAY GRAPH |
1-YEAR GRAPH |

|
It was 2:15 AM when I stepped up on Mr. Scale and he said, "What are you doing up so early?! Oh, yeah—203.5 pounds!"
My Weight Commander Control Panel Graph shows that I am slowly slipping upwards again.
The Weight Commander Future Graph has increased its prediction of where I am headed over the next 3 months. At this point in time, I can hardly call it a liar.
My Weight Commander 60-Day Graph and my 90-Day Graph both show me going up and up still.
My Weight Commander 1-Year Graph clearly shows how my Journey has been this year. This is not nice level and consistant graph that I produced my first couple of years of maintenance. Where did the fire go that fueled that effort? I think that I will, sooner or later, have to answer that question.
As has been the case for the last several weeks, we have two major things tying up our time: Mom and the new building. However, Dotti and I did escape one day and make a run into Roseburg to run a couple of errands. We stopped at a bookstore that my cousin told me about in town called "While Away Books" and it is a really nice used books outlet. The titles are pretty well organized, and there are lots of books to choose from.
On ongoing issue with Mom is her driving. We have been doing all her driving for her, especially since her doctor said she should not drive. We tell Mom that is what the doctor said, and she comes back, "She doesn't know anything about my driving." So, we go around in circles, and come off looking like the bad guys. (Mom's doctor also warned us that we would never "win the argument," with Mom.)
I finally got tired of waiting for the doctor to do what she said she would back on December 15, and I started making phone calls on Tuesday. I verified that DMV had not yet been notified and I called the doctor's office and got them moving. (First they claimed it was done but later the said they "resubmitted" it after I called.) In any case the ball was finally moving and Oregon DMV now knows there is a problem that needs to be evaluated. (It is silly I know, but it is easier to deal with this when the DMV and the doctor say she can't drive, rather than just arbitrarily telling her this.)
Our grandson Kai took a fall in basketball practice this week and broke his elbow. He had to have surgery and have some temporary pins put in his arm to assist with the healing. It looks like all went well with the surgery and he should be 100% when it is all done! (YES!)
This week the contractor installed the air conditioner (that Dotti and I purchased a while back) into the office, but there are a few snags he needs to fix with that. The electrician finished installing all the outlets in the storage area, and I hung the lights in there. The contractor finally got (most of) the insulation into the ceiling area, so our heater won't run round the clock anymore.
Our neighbor, who is 92, had his pump quit on him, and so I went over and helped him drag it up the bank out of the river. I used rope with some knots that allow me to get a mechanical advantage like a pulley would give, to help move it and then tie it off as we set up to move it some more. Step by step it came up. I didn't want him doing much of the actual pulling because of his age and his irregular heart beat that comes up when he exerts himself. I don't think it would have come up without the rope, unless I had gone into the (cold, cold) river and pushed it up from below, and even then it would have been questionable. Anyway, we were successful and then we tested his motor and found that it was toast, and needs to be replaced.
I finally got the phone lines and CAT5e computer line out to the office this week, and so I am ready to move my computer out to my office finally. There is a lot of work to do to get the office up to speed and it is terrible shame it has taken this long to get it to the point where I can begin, but here we are, finally.
One thing that keeps coming up, from every organization, and every book we read, and friend we talk with: we have to get help to deal with this situation with Mom. Now, if we can just figure out how we will be all set. (I remember for years hearing people tell me, "You should quit smoking." I would think each time, "I know that I need to, but I don't know how to." I have never learned how to ask for help very well.) Hopefully this will be easier to learn than quitting smoking was.
7 years, 264 days on my journey; a lifetime to follow.
