Week 39 Update

It was 5:30 AM, and the temperature was at 34º, as I stepped up on Mr. Scale, and he said, "182.0 pounds." (NS: 178.0) This week has been a struggle to get my weight back up to 185.0.

I took this past week off, so we could go up to the Seattle area to help LeRoy with finding an apartment. Something about the process has caused me to drop weight. Not driving in rush hour traffic may have been a factor. Not eating quite as many “free” fresh vegetables, or maybe being more active may have contributed. I am not sure. Overall I averaged eating 33.64 points per day for the week. That is 2.35 more per day than the week before, when I had averaged more points per day than I had on any previous week of my journey (and maintained my weight at where I was for that week). I ate 4.28 more points per day more than two weeks ago, when I dropped half a pound.

I have gone out of my way the last few days to bring my weight up. On Wednesday, I weighed 179.0. That is well below where I want to be. So, I ate 41.0 points that day. We even ate at Taco Bell for the first time since I started my journey. It brought me back up to 181.0 the next day. I didn’t want to over correct and so the next day, (yesterday) I held my points down to 33.0, and my weight went slightly up to 181.5. I decided to hammer it again to see if I could bring it up for my weigh in today. I ate 43.0 points, including some popcorn and even a banana split at Dairy Queen. (Boy did that feel strange, but it was good!) All it did was to bring me up another half pound to 182.0. And if I hadn’t of woken up early to weigh, I may have shown a loss.

It has been kind of nice eating higher for my points, but I don’t want to get too used to doing that, in case my body decides that it will return to normal, where eating that many points will start putting on the weight again. So, I will monitor what the scale says each day and continue to adjust my points accordingly. By working at the bottom of my weight range, I do have some slop area to work with, in case I should overshoot my mark at some point. No matter how badly I misjudge, it should not push me above my personal goal weight of 190.

We will see what happens during this next week, when I have to go back to work again.

It has been a fun week on vacation. We took LeRoy up to Everett, Washington to hunt around for an apartment, and he found a good one. (While we were there, Tracy stopped by and we had a fun visit with her.)

I will be watching my weight closely the next few days, trying to figure out what is the correct point range for me to be eating in. Now that I am eating peanut butter more often and opening my horizons to new foods, it may be throwing my digestive system into a different gear or something. To eat over 40 points on two different days this week, and to still be at 182.0 pounds seems weird. I am thinking that a new Weight – Points matrix will have to be created. Perhaps something like:

This week and books…

I did not read much in my books this week. I did finish up A Study In Scarlet, a Sherlock Holmes story by Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. Next week I am back to work, and probably will also be back to reading more as well. I certainly should be making more progress in my audio book anyway.

273 days OP, a lifetime to follow.
