Week 128 Update

I woke up at 05:15 this morning, with the ocean surf audible outside the window. When I stepped up on Mr. Scale and he said, "186.5 pounds!"

This week was a challenge for me. I was ill on Monday and missed a day of work, and I went most of the week before I was really feeling back to normal. So, I didn't get in any exercise this week. That of course impacted how my calories I was burning, but even more importantly, it caused by back to start hurting again. On Monday and Tuesday I had to take some pain meds and my weight shot up as a result. It hit the top of my range on Wednesday and Thursday. Having to choose between eating and the meds actually helped me to find alternative ways to deal with the pain so that I was able to make it through the days without taking anything after Tuesday. I am hoping that the upcoming week will allow me to get back to the gym again and relieve some of the pain that way.

Eating and Weight - On Saturday, I weighed 185.0, which is my target weight exactly. LeRoy came over and we all went out to Sweet Tomatoes for lunch, where I had 28.0 points worth of goodies. We went to the Hoffman Dairy Gardens in the afternoon and walked through their corn maze. They had placed 12 markers inside the maze at various places and we found them all. It took us about 2 hours and 20 minutes to walk around 2.5 miles inside the maze, which actually included two separate mazes, with two entrances and two exits. There was a bridge in the middle of one of the mazes where you had to go up and over to continue on. It was nice getting up there because you had view of the entire cornfield into which the maze was cut. After that we went through their Haunted Barn, which was really good, as it was the last time we went two years ago. They even had the world's heaviest pumpkin there, weighing over 1,300 pounds, which had gone through one period of time during its growth where it had gained over a pound an hour! I had a couple of points worth of Kettle Corn and by day’s end had eaten 59.0 points.

Sunday my weight dropped to 183.5 pounds. I ate 49.5 points that day, with a few special concoctions that Dotti created with her new blender, and that turned out to be very good! Monday morning I weighed 184.5, but I was feeling bad. I got up early enough to go to the gym, but I knew I would not be able to make it there. By the time I normally would head for work I realized that I was not going to even be able to do that. I spent the day relaxing and getting some sleep. By the end of the day I had eaten 58.5 points. Unfortunately, my back was hurting pretty badly, so I had to take some medications. On Tuesday, my weight jumped up to 186.5. I felt a little better, and I was able to get to work. However, my back was still hurting, and the medications were still playing games with my water retention. I ate 42.0 points to try and hold the scale down a little, but it still crept up to 187.0. For the rest of the week I was able to get by without any meds, but I was struggling to get that water weight down nonetheless. I ate 45.0 points on Wednesday, and the scale held steady on Thursday at 187.0. I was guessing that I was going to finally shed some of the water and so I ate 50.5 points. Friday I weighed 186.5. It wasn’t quite the drop that I would have liked to have seen, but at least it didn’t go up. On Friday, we headed off for the coast to spend the weekend with my Mom and her husband. This provided some eating challenges, especially on the day before my weigh-in. We ended up in a situation where for lunch we had to grab something quickly and the only thing around close enough was a Dairy Queen, so we ate there. Then later on we had a large dinner in the evening, where I only ate 15.0 points, but there was a lot of "free food" in those points. I drank a lot of water and by the time I hit the bed, I had eaten a total of 57.0 points for the day and the scale was sitting at 191.0. Since I was toting so much water around with me at that time, I was up all night, off and on, getting rid of it. This morning my weight had fallen back to 186.5 in time for weigh-in.

Exercise - My exercise this week was pitiful. I did get to walk around the corn maze for 2.5 miles taking 2 hour and 20 minutes on Sunday. It was a lot of fun, but it was not very intense. However, that was the high point of my week for exercise.

Water - I averaged 51.64 ounces (6.4 cups) per day this week. That is within my target range, so I hit my goal. I did have two days where I only drank 3 cups but the rest of the week I was above my 6-8 cups per day goal.

So, for the week I am happy with how things went. I was once again in my target range for my weight and I got my water in. Hopefully, next week I can improve on my exercise, and have even a better week.

2 years, 166 days OP; a lifetime to follow.
