Week 101 Update

It was 42° at 04:44, when I stepped up on Mr. Scale and he said, “184.0 pounds!” I’ll take it. Yesterday I had 43.0 points, and I even had some popcorn last night while watching a movie with Dotti. It could have been a bigger bump upwards than that this morning. So, I will not complain with 184.0.

One of my goals from the beginning of my journey has been to get comfortably into 34-inch waist pants again. I have so far failed in that goal. To rectify that failure, this week I started working towards my new goal of 180.0 pounds.

On Tuesday it looked like I might reach my goal in one week, but that turned out to be a fluke. I ate 44.07 points per day this week, down from 50.64 points last week. With 6 and a half points less each day, my average weight for the week actually went up from 183.57, to 184.14. However, my average weight is lower than two weeks ago, and in fact, aside from last week, it is lower than for any week since the week of Christmas. Last week was a strange one in that I ate a lot and my weight dropped anyway. So, if I throw that one out, I am definitely heading in the right direction.

For eating this week, I started out right at my old target weight on Saturday, and so I ate plenty of points: 56.5. The way things had gone the previous week, I was not too concerned about eating that much. On Sunday the scale only bumped up a half pound to 185.5. I ate a conservative 43.0 points, and on Monday I was back down to 185.0. It was on Monday that I finally made my decision to lower my target weight to 180.0 pounds. With the way the previous week had gone, I didn’t see any need for radically dropping my points in order to drop 5 pounds. So, on Monday I ate 40.0 points. Tuesday morning the scale said, “182.5 pounds!” It was looking like the 5 pound loss was going to be a quick one at this point. But no such luck. I ate 40.5 points on Tuesday and the scale jumped up to 185.5 on Wednesday. Go figure. I ate 44.0 points that day, and on Thursday the scale dropped back down to 183.0. I ate 40.5 points and on Friday the scale moved up to 183.5. I ate 43.5 points yesterday, and that brought me to 184.0 this morning.

With the popcorn last night, and its sodium, I can understand the slight increase in the scale this morning. Overall I am happy with the way the week went. I only worked on my new goal for 5 days this week. So, I am interested in seeing how the upcoming week will turn out, as I am working towards my goal for the entire week. I dropped my intake this week by about 2200 calories, which is not quite a pound’s worth of calories. My Saturday weigh-in dropped a pound. So, I really can’t complain. Hopefully next week will be even better.

I will have to establish a new target point value for my new weight, once I get there. But I will just have to wait and see what that will be.

For exercise this week, I made one goal and missed the other. I only made it to the gym once, which is 2 less than the minimum for my goal. I will see if I can do better this week. I reached my Aerobic Points goal, but just barely: I earned 30.73 Aerobic Points this week. I walked at least 3 miles, 3 times. The first time was on the treadmill at the gym last Saturday. I did 3 miles in 37:42, which earned 10.32 AP’s. I walked 3 miles at lunch on Monday, in 40:09, and earned 9.45 points. On Friday, I went in to work early and walked before the workday started. I knew that I needed over 10 AP’s to get to my goal, and so I walked 3.3 miles in 42:49. That got me 10.96 AP’s and put me over the top for my goal. (My time for 3 miles yesterday came out to 38:04 which I am very happy with. It was close to the time that I got on the treadmill on Saturday!)

For water this week, I averaged 76.57 ounces (9.57 cups) per day for the week. That is well within my goal of 6-8 cups per day. The only bad spot was on Saturday, when I only drank 3 cups of water. I did have a WW smoothie, and some hot cocoa and coffee, along with the 24 ounces of water. So, I did not get dehydrated, even with the gym workout and the project of putting in air conditioners in the house. After Saturday, the water was plentiful for the rest of the week.

Next week I am on call, so this is my last free weekend before the conference, and there is a lot to do. Time is getting by us quickly.

707 days (1 year 11 months 7 days) OP; a lifetime to follow.
