There are other possible routes depending on the starting location and the time of day. (See over all map above.)

For example, if travel is being done during off hours for traffic (you do not want to take this route during rush hour!), and coming from the south , it would be faster, due to the shorter distance, to take I-5 north, up to I-84 east, and using that freeway to then connect up with I-205 north.

It is also possible to take I-5 north all the way across the Columbia River, and use Washington Route 14 to head east to I-205 north.

Coming from the north or the south, you can take I-5 all the way to Washintong SR-500, in which case you would take SR-500 eastbound to Thurston Way directly, then turn left on Thurston, and just follow the directions given above to the Heathman Lodge.
